Orochimaru looked at the blood sample.
"Magnificent!" He whispered in amazement. The blood was slightly glowing.
"Do you need more?" Asked Akari.
"I got everything I need." He looked at her gloomy face. "What's wrong with you?"
"I'm... sick." She shrug and rolled down her sleeve.
"You seem totally healthy." Orochimaru placed her blood in the container.
"Well.. turns out I have a parasite. Actually a few of them!" She smiled ironically. "Also I said something really mean to Naruto and I have no idea how to make it right." Orochimaru turned around.
"I'm not planning to be your therapist!"
"I'm well aware of that." Akari grabbed her coat. "I have to go to the office. Is the medication ready?"
"Almost. I'm sure we can start using it in few days. I'll need more of your blood soon."
"Anything you need!"
She opened a rift in the middle of the street. It was a cloudy winter day. She wanted to walk to clear her thoughts, but the voices were setting her brain on fire. Akari wrapped the coat tight around her body.
"Have you decided to join us yet?" Asked one of the Ōtsutsukis in her mind. Akari didn't respond. She'd just look stupid talking to herself.
"Listen to your cousin, just walk away from them."
Akari shook her head. She was walking towards the Hokage's mansion.
"Let's go back to our world, Akari!"
"Shut up, all of you! No one's going anywhere!" She said out of a sudden. "I'm sick of running away!"
"Then hurt them." The voice chuckled.
"No! I'm not hurting anyone! I can handle you!" She sighed. "I liked Kurama better. You guys are annoying and evil.""Oh, hey, Akari!" Kakashi waved and crossed the street towards her. "Walking all by yourself?"
"Yup, just me and my demons!" She shrug.
"Where's your blonde boyfriend?"
"We had a fight."
"Already? I lost the bet to Mayumi." He cursed.
"Wait, what bet?"
"Did I say it out loud? Let me walk with you!" Kakashi smiled. "A fight?"
"Yeah. I blamed him for my brothers' death."
"Rude."
"I know.. I didn't mean it." Akari sighed.
"Did you guys talk?"
"No. I spent the night in my dimension. Couldn't bring myself to go home and apologize."
"Now that's some supernatural drama you got. Why don't you come over for dinner at our place to cheer you up. It'll be fun, huh?""We're hungry for some chakra!" Said the voices. Akari looked away.
"I guess my demons are hungry. Okay. I'll be there."***
Shikamaru was waiting anxiously in the office. Akari sighed and walked past him.
"Did you seriously scream at Raikage?!"
"I don't want to talk about it, Shikamaru."
"You threatened the hidden cloud village, Akari. That could ruin our alliance!"
"I don't feel well." She sat and covered her face. She could hear so many voices at once, her mind was a mess.
"What's gotten into you?! Why would you do such thing?!"
"Have you seen Naruto?" She asked. The elders entered the office.
"Can we have a word with you, Lady Hokage?!"
Akari knew they'd lecture and judge her for hours, plus, the voices kept talking, repeating same words over and over again.
"No. I can't do this right now. Shikamaru, please take over."***
Akari appeared on the bridge and accidentally pushed some guy into the river.
"Fumihiro?!" She gasped. "Hold on, I'll get you!" She jumped into the water and dragged him out.
"Ah.. my notes.." He mumbled. The water was running down his black curls.
"I'm so sorry, Fumihiro." They were both soaking wet sitting by the river. Akari helped him gather his notes. "I was just.. so overwhelmed and anxious and.. I'm sorry.. this doesn't make me any less guilty." Fumihiro grabbed her hands gently.
"Don't worry, Lady Akari."
Akari sighed.
"I pushed you into the river.. and you're not even mad... you're too kind." She said with an awkward smile. He smiled back.
"It's just water. It'll dry."Akari pushed his hands away as the Ōtsutsuki spoke about killing him in her mind.
"I'm sorry.. Lord Seventh wouldn't like me touching you. Forgive me." He said.
"No.. it's not that." She started to play with her wet hair awkwardly. "It's me. I'm the one who's messed up. I just don't want to hurt anyone."
"Why would you hurt anyone? You're kind and caring..."
"I deserve to be happy." She spoke quietly with her eyes fixed on the grass. "After everything I went through, I deserve to be happy. I don't want to be alone anymore."
"Lady Akari, what are you talking about?" He tried to move closer but she pulled away.
"Please don't get close. It's not safe."
"Okay. Just tell me what's wrong." He looked adorable.
"I'm sorry, I can't tell you." She hugged her knees like a child. "I hurt the only guy I could talk to and I don't know how to make it right." Fumihiro wiped her tears with a thumb. "You remind me of Ogen, you know?" She tried to smile. "I just miss him so much."
"You'll see Ogen again. Someday you will."
"Someday I will." She touched his warm hand on her cheek. "Thank you."
