~CHAPTER 12~

BERLIN GERMANY present day

Walking with a slight limp, Seph made her way into a glass conference room that Steve and Sam were in. noticing her entrance, they turned to look at her, then back at the screen in the corner that displayed Jame's face. She took a seat next to Sam and watching the screen as well.

"Hello, Mr.Barnes, I've been sent by the united nations to evaluate you," the man said to him. Persephone immediately sat straight up and watched Buck's face for any emotion, when he didn't respond the other man took a seat and began asking him simple questions, the more Seph listened and waited for nothing but silence as answers, she grew bored.

"Do you know where you are James?" The man kept asking more questions.

"I can't help me if you don't talk to me, James," there was a short pause before he finally responded,

"My name is Bucky," Is all he said, his deep gruff voice falling short and his head dipped low so all you could were his features hiding behind his shoulder-length hair. Seph remembered the same voice, the voice that told her to jump on when trying to escape from Tacha'lla, the same voice that claimed he wasn't going to hurt anyone.

as the interrogation contained op Seph found herself just staring at Buckys face, and tuning out Steve, Sam, and Sharon's conversation.  what finally snapped her out of her daze, was the lights going out, leaving them all In darkness.

"Guys, get me an eye on Barnes!" Ross said to the crowd of task force employees who now started scattering around frantically.  Sephs first instinct was to run to her father who remained outside the conference room she was in, but she stopped her thoughts when she took a glance at the screen again. in the darkness the only light being the red glow from the chamber she could see James, the sound was no longer working, the picture was barely visible, but he was in pain. he was screaming. without thinking she jumped from her seat and ran from the room.

Steve and Sam looked at each other confused before it clicked in their minds she was after Barnes, they too jumped up and chased after Persephone, Tony however didn't notice his daughter and her absence so he rushed alongside Natasha trying to find the source of the power outage.

Persephone couldn't even conjure up a reason why she ran to find James, she couldn't even think about the thought of conjuring up a reason, nothing made sense, as she reached the bottom of the stairwell, she sucked in a deep breath and slipped into the interrogation room, the door as wide open, and a man laid unconscious by Bucks old prison chamber. the lights were flashing red, and she tried to take in her surroundings.

"Help me..." the man whispered, she looking down t him lying helpless at her feet, she crouched down and held him up slightly by the collar of his shirt.

"Where is he?" She asked teeth clenched, the man only smirked in response and her hands began to glow in anger before she could strike him, Steve and Sam reached her. 

"Persephone!" Steve shouted as she turned around quickly and lowered her hand the glowing disappearing in thin air, she lunged away from the man and looked over at Sam shocked,

"Help?" The man asked again towards Steve, he yanked the man off his feet and pinned him hard against the wall,

"Who are you? what do you want?" He asked demanding. the man continued to smirk.

"To see an empire fall," The man said before Steve could attack him, Bucky lunged forwards aiming to punch Sam right in the head, he ducked last minute and James drove his metal fist through the wall. but before Sam could prepare to attack again, Buck punched him in the gut, lifted him by the chin, and threw him into the wall.

taking action into her own hands Persephone drew back her hands, allowing both palms to glow with orange light, she shot a blast at Bucky and it held him back for a moment, she then side kicked him and used the wall behind them as leverage running and kicking him in the gut. the Soldier was now infuriated, and Seph could tell. Before he could attack her Steve jumped in and blocked his hit.  taken aback, by all that happened so fast, Seph noticed Bucky shoved Steve into the elevator shaft, and she knew she had to follow him. jumping to her feet she rushed past Sam lying unconscious on the floor to go after Bucky.

her heartbeat pounded in her chest as she raced up the stairs, and into what looked like a common eating cafeteria. looking around she saw people running different derections to exit the building. fighting the crowd, she peaked around the corner into the cafeteria to see Bucky and her father fighting. she opened her clenched fists once again prepared to attack, but a gunshot went off, she looked up fast to see her father frozen in fear. James had just attempted to shoot her father.

Running fast, Persephone slid into the scene, and once again side kicked bucky, noting her, he threw a punch in her direction but she dogged it.

"Persephone grace!" Tony yelled over the sounds of her and James fighting. she blocked her father out of her head and continued striking bucky. when she was thrown across the room and slammed into a table. Tony ran towards her. "Seph, this isn't your fight, stay here with Sharon!" he yelled. She looked into his face hovering over hers,

"I know it isn't my fight, but I'm gonna help," she said catching her breath, before Tony could respond she was off. making her way back towards the soldier who was now attacking Natasha, Tacha'lla jumped in front of her. the two men began to fight. looking around Seph noticed a stairwell above both of them. climbing the stairs quickly, she reached the tip and braced herself as she jumped off. yes, she could fly, but she wasn't flying, she was falling. landing next to bucky, he stopped what he was doing and grabbed her by the throat.

obviously, at this point, Seph knew this wasn't the James Buchanan Barnes Steve and Sam were talking about or the Bucky she read about in the museum, but she was willing to try and get him back. even though she just met him a while ago. pounding and clawing to get his hand off her throat, he continued to attack Tacha'lla until his coast was clear. he dropped Seph's aching body to the floor and took off to the roof.

rolling over, her vision began to blur, she could see Steve approaching her, and her body forced itself up. watching him run off to find Bucky she also forced herself to follow Steve. when he slammed the metal door open revealing the for top, and the helicopter the seemed to be leaving the pad, Steve raced as fast as he could to stop it from leaving. seeing Bucky inside, Seph acted fast and threw her hands up, holding the chopper steady in the air allowing it not to move. Bucky watched from his seat into the helicopter, as She used all her strength to keep the helicopter from taking off. her eyes were squeezed shut as she fell to her knees still using all her might. Steve also used his strength to keep him from taking off and he pulled the helicopter back towards the pad.

realizing that they were both succeeding at keeping a helicopter from taking off, he acted fast and drove it into the side of the landing pad causing Steve to fall back. but the blades of the helicopter struck Seph and she fell unconscious. Steve tried to rush to Seph's side but was caught by Bucky slamming his metal hand around his throat. as the helicopter began falling off the side of the landing pad, Steve couldn't do anything but brace himself for impact. They landed hard into the bay below them.
