CHAPTER 9 — it went blank
"soldiers, into position!"
most captains of the remaining squads brainstormed different plans and ideas to cover up the hole in wall rose, with the help of armin of course because as far as everyone else knows, armin knows more about eren becoming a titan than other of the leaders do.
you and a couple of the top soldiers from separate squads—including mikasa of course—were given orders to protect eren and aid in his process of ceiling wall rose. the rest of the squad members would be stationed by his side, or would fight for him, going in before eren to kill the titans that would pose as a problem to the mission.
"hey, mikasa," you broke the silence between the group, voice cutting through the heavy tension that had lingered for far too long. the weight of the silence lifted, replaced by the sound of quiet conversation and the sense that things were finally moving forward.
mikasa only hummed in response, keeping her eyes on eren and watching his every movement. after what happened today, she couldn't bare to be apart from him. she would quite literally defy the words of god himself if he told her she couldn't be by eren's side.
you couldn't help but grip your blades tighter, the feeling of fear and anxiety slowly taking over your body. "eren can do this, right? we can win this battle?"
"yes, i have faith in eren and you should too (y/n). i know eren has faith in us—has faith in you to protect him." mikasa was confident in her words and left no room for doubt. she stood tall, her posture firm, as if the weight of the world couldn't shake her belief in eren, or in you.
"you're right. thanks, mikasa." you felt a wave of gratitude wash over yourself as you looked over toward mikasa.
but before you could dwell on the moment any longer, a sudden crack of lightning split from the sky, violently bright. the air around eren was bright and in an instant, the transformation began and the ground beneath your feet rumbled.
