CHAPTER 22 — don't take him away
after the incident with annie you should've known. the three were so close—so secretive about everything and even more so about their past. you felt guilty; "why couldn't i see that my friends were the enemy?"
hange stared as the colosal titan raised it's arm in the air. even with jean's body hovering over yours, protecting you. it didn't hide the horrifying scene of your fellow comrades being smashed by the hands of the colossal titan—as if the people were mere flies.
"ah fuck (y/n), are you okay? you have to get up—we have to fight!" you simply nodded and he got up from a top you. quickly, you took this moment to run towards where mikasa and armin stood, watching as the armored titan tossed ymir into its mouth.
hanges lip quivered, "all soldiers, prepare to attack! we're taking down the colossal titan! it's a threat to all humanity!" they said before leaping off the wall and flying towards the titan.
armin looked at you, a worried expression plastered across his face because he knew how badly you'd been hurt after annie's secrets were revealed and knowing this could make you worse. after you had just gotten better as well. "(y/n), are you sure you can do this? they're your—"
"i took down annie—bertholdt and reiner are no problem. i can do it."

the battle between eren and reiner in their titan form didn't last long. it was clear from the very beginning that reiner was experienced and eren was still discovering his new found abilities. in their titan forms or not, reiner knew his way around a battlefield.
just when you thought the battle was in your favor; eren had taken reiner to the floor, replicating one of annie's moves that instantly had you freeze. then, out of nowhere, bertholdt's titan corpse was falling rapidly to where eren and reiner laid.
"above you.. look out!" connie yelled as he pointed towards the falling corpse, and without thinking, you flew towards the ground with the help of your gear as it was hooked on the wall.
you found yourself screaming out for eren, pure worry ripping through your voice—you wanted to save him, you couldn't let them take eren...you refused to let the world take anyone else from you.
"(y/n) you dumbass!! move away from the wall!" connie yelled out, but he almost refused to move from where you hung. the sight in front of him was too much to handle and he still get over how his friends of three years could easily betray them and destroy everything they loved.
"reiner please—"
he bit through the nape of eren's titan, only after ripping every limb from his body.
a tightness formed in your chest as you watched and you felt the unmistakable sting of tears welling in your eyes. each desperate call for eren caught in your throat, your vision grew mistier with every passing second, as if your body itself was reacting to the ache of watching him disappear.
"don't take eren away from me too.."
