I know this chapter is super long, but it's going to be a while before I update again since I'm going back to school. Hope y'all enjoy
Liyah Pov:
Ringing the doorbell and knocking on the front door I took a step back impatiently waiting for the door to open. I shoved my hands deeper into my coat pockets pulling it closer to me as I shifted awkwardly on my feet trying to get warm.
This Georgia weather was a pain in the ass and made me miss the warm weather in Jamaica deeply. I went from laying out on the hot sunny beach in nothing but a bathing suit to the grey clouded skies, freezing cold weather, and a sweat suit.
Take me back, I thought while rolling my eyes letting out an aggravated puff of air once I realized no one had came to the door yet causing me to ring the doorbell multiple times.
"Didn't I tell y'all bad ass little kids to stop playin' on my got damn doorbell!" Ms. Gloria yelled out aggressively with a deep-rooted frown on her face as she slung the door open.
I raised an eyebrow with a smirk playing on my lips trying to hold back a laugh at her nasty attitude.
"Oh, Liyah hunny I'm so sorry." She said quickly correcting herself as her facial features softened. "Come on girl get your thick ass in this house." She joked moving out the way so I could finally make my way inside.
I instantly let out a sigh of relief feeling the warm air of the heat surround me. My eyes closed for a quick second trying to soak up as much of the heat as I could because the cold weather, we were experiencing outside was nothing but the Devil.
"Can I get you anything to drink or eat?" Ms. Gloria asked politely as I snapped my eyes open shaking my head trying to clear my thoughts about the disrespectful ass weather. "Here let me take your coat." She demanded holding her hand out for her to take my coat.
Doing as told I slipped it off handing it over as she placed it on the coat rack.
"I'm good, Ms. Gloria." I smiled waving her off as she nodded. "How have you been?" I asked not removing the smile off my face as I pulled her into a hug.
"Oh, you know me Liyah I'm good as always. How was the trip? Is Brayden outside?" As she fired off questions back-to-back, I didn't have it in me to crush her spirits once I seen the hopeful gleam in her eyes at the mention of Brayden.
Removing myself out her grasp I gave her a small force smile causing her to sigh because she already knew the answer to that question once she seen my face.
"He really did want to come but he was super jet lagged after our trip, so I told him to rest while I go get the boys." I lied through my teeth following behind her into the living room not missing the sad hunch she now had in her shoulders.
We both knew I was lying like hell, but she didn't speak on it.
"Jamaica was great though thanks for asking." I said trying to clear the awkwardness in the air.
Truth was I asked Brayden if he wanted to come with me to get the boys, but he instantly shut that down realizing they were with his mother. My mother had originally kept the boys for three days and Ms. Gloria took the other two since my mom had her shift at the hospital.
I even tried persuading him as much as I could because I knew it was going to be awkward as hell once she brought him, but he wasn't budging. Ultimately, I gave up leaving him back at the house while I went to get the boys and deal with his mother.
"You think he'll ever forgive me Liyah?" She asked sadly as she sat down in her black leather armchair and I sat across from her on the black leather loveseat.
