Christmas Day
Yori Pov:
Sitting around the living room with Zaria and her pops we all sat there with wide smiles plastered on our faces as we watched Arie excitedly open all her gifts that were under the Christmas tree. My floor was covered in wrapping paper and the many unopened gifts she had left.
It was two days out the year I could overly spoil my baby girl without anyone saying something which was her birthday and Christmas which I made sure to go over and beyond each year for her. My princess deserved the world, and I was going to be the first man in her life to show her what she truly deserved.
I planned to set the bar extremely high for any man who decided they wanted to become apart of her life. Even at her young age now I've instilled that she should always get the best and never settle for anything less.
Removing my attention from Arie I looked up placing my eyes on Zaria who was already staring at me but quickly looked away once she was caught. The tension between us was thick as hell and I'm pretty sure everyone in the room could feel it.
As much as I missed her, I still wasn't ready to fully let her back in my life yet. My trust I had for her was broken and we needed time apart because our relationship was no longer going to flourish if the trust was broken.
And I'll be damned if I let my baby girl live in a toxic environment.
"Mommy you got me a camera?!" Arie squealed out happily running into Zaria's arms excited about her new gift causing me and Zaderian, Zaria's father to chuckle lowly at her actions.
Arie was obsessed with taking pictures and was always snatching someone's phone to take pictures of any and everything so I was glad Zaria brought her that camera so she could stop taking up storage in my photo gallery.
"I'm glad you like it baby go open the rest of your gifts." Zaria smiled mocking Arie's excitement as she nudged her gently back over to the tree so she could finish opening her gifts.
We sat around my living room for the next hour watching Arie open gifts and exchanging gifts that we brought for each other. Just because I wasn't with Zaria anymore didn't mean I would leave her hanging on Christmas. I still had love for the girl, but I just wish she really went about shit differently.
While everyone continued conversing with one another I excused myself before heading into the kitchen to find me a snack. Zaria said she planned on making brunch for us later on but until then I had to find me something to eat on cause I was starving.
Arie had me up early as hell because she was so excited to see what 'Santa' brought her. Tuh, I ain't appreciate that his fat white imaginary ass was taking the credit for all my hard work, but I didn't have it in me to crush my baby girl like that.
Leaning on the kitchen counter I happily snacked on some fruit snacks still lost in my thoughts till I heard footsteps in the kitchen instantly making me come alert. As I focused in on Zaria who was fiddling nervously with her hands, I let out a small sigh.
I hope she wasn't with the drama shit today because I didn't have the patience for it.
"Um, I just wanted to say thank for the Charm bracelet, the makeup kit, and all the other stuff you got me for Christmas. I know we aren't on the best of terms, but I really appreciate it." She told me with a small smile on her face that didn't reach her eyes.
"It ain't shit Zaria." I shrugged waving her off because I had brought most of it before we had broken up.
Getting off the counter I threw away my trash before grabbing my water bottle about to head out the kitchen only for Zaria to grab my arm before I could fully walk out the kitchen.
