Part one...
Bre Pov:
"Just be careful." I warned Angel over the phone putting extra emphasis on careful knowing he was about to do something reckless tonight yet again.
"I'm always careful." He snickered sounding overly confident as if this was nothing new to him.
"Now, is not the time to be cocky Angel." I scolded holding the phone between my ear and shoulder as I continued picking up around my house.
"I'm not being cocky I just don't have the same worries as you. Anyways what's with all the background noise?" He asked trying to move onto a new subject as I rolled my eyes but followed his lead seeing what he was trying to do.
"I'm trying to clean up a bit since Jace is coming over later to keep me company." I explained ready to see my bestfriend in person because it had been a minute and we had a lot of catching up to do.
"So, what you're saying is that I should get off the phone that way you won't be distracted." He suggested as I smacked my lips cause that's nowhere near what I was saying.
"So, what you're saying is that you want me to cuss you out cause you keep playing with me." I shot back mocking his tone as he busted out laughing at my response while I shook my head with a small smile playing on my lips.
I love hearing his laugh.
"Nah, mami far from that but I for real gotta go." He said once his laughter settled getting back serious as I paused from my cleaning standing in the middle of the living room with a pout on my face.
"Be careful, please."
"Always, I love you."
"I love you more." I sighed hanging up the phone and throwing it off to the side so I could get finished with my task and go lay down for a little bit.
Before I could even start wiping down my coffee table the doorbell went off causing me to pick up my phone once again so I could check and see who it was. This was one of the perks the security system Angel forced me to get even though I insisted a Ring Doorbell from Amazon would work just fine, but no.
It was either his way or no way.
As Devon's face popped up on my screen I immediately let out an annoyed sigh. Going towards the front I grabbed Domo's IPad and Aiden's night light off the foyer table.
We got back home late Thursday night because after lunch we spent the rest of our day over Angel's house. Most of our time was spent in his theater room where the boys forced us to watch their favorite DC and Marvel movies.
By the time we got back to the house I was too tired to even remember about double checking the bags they take to their fathers. I usually do that the night before to make sure they had everything they needed for the weekend.
Opening the front door, I didn't even bother greeting Devon who looked at me with a small smile on his face. Instead, I held out the boy's things in both hands waiting for him to grab them as a frown now took over his facial features.
"Well, damn how are you?" He asked with a slight attitude put off by my behavior but what did he expect?
Our last real conversation besides that little mishap at IHOP was Christmas day and it went completely left. Whenever Devon and I were together in a room now it always led to an argument which was the last thing I wanted to do.
"I would be a lot better if you took this out my hands." I shot back not cutting him any slack as I kept my voice stern and my face void of any emotion.
