I think in Obey Me fics my favorite thing is when somebody tweaks the very beginning of the established canon, and then that one thing affects the story as a whole.
I love AUs where MC is summoned to the Devildom injured. (not from the summoning, but from something that happened right before) It changes the story in such a small but meaningful way, and I love seeing the character's reactions to MC getting hurt even if they don't really know them yet. Sometimes it's sort of like this awkward hurt/comfort that I really love :)
Also, sidenote, i wonder why Obey Me always sends me chat notifications at like 5-6 am? I'm writing this at 6 am and I just got a notification..
Also i've only read one fic featuring anything like this, but I love it when they summon MC only to immediately learn that MC isn't fully human. Like, just anything to screw with that beginning scene just right, like licking the script and seeing what the words say afterward.
