She stood in the middle of the flower field, her pure white dress contrasting beautifully with her bronze skin. Her smile was like a breath of spring, blessing the tulips and roses scattered about.
She kneeled to the floor, carefully plucking a ruby colored rose out of the ground, before pressing it up to her nose to inhale the scent. Laying the flower in her checkered basket, she stood up and admired the work she had done that day. Her basket was filled with flowers of various kinds, creating a cluster of rainbow.
She giggled at her creation, while walking down the tanned pathway. The warm ground heated up her bare feet, making her sigh out contently.
The girl gazed upon the sight before her. A gorgeous waterfall, coming out of a large, pink cloud. Knowing where she was headed, she made her way past the waterfall, walking behind it. The cloud split open in the middle, allowing angels, like herself to pass through to a kingdom.
The young woman walked over to a large, pink door. The door had a pattern of vines and other plants. The frame was threatening to become overgrown with vines, though the ends of the green ropes seemed to be trimmed.
She bent down, placing her basket on the floor. She sat down cross legged on a patch of moss, and began removing flowers from the basket and decorating the door with them.
"Leigh-Anne?" The girl turned around, facing the person who had called her name.
"Zayn!" She greeted, her voice soft like summer rain. Leigh-Anne took in the boy's appearance. His white wings overshadowed his stomach abs, which were painted with tattoos. His hair was messy, with a single strand hanging Infront of his face, which he kept trying to blow away only for it to swung back down. He was wearing brown, baggy trousers and no shoes, since you don't really need to wear shoes in heaven.
Zayn smiled, standing a few meters away from her. "Decorating the already way too clustered door again?" He joked.
Leigh giggled. "Yeah, you know how much I love it," Zayn shook his head at her.
"Typical Lee-Lee," he remarked, making the older girl chuckle.
"Guess who?" Another voice spoke from behind Zayn.
"Hey, Makhyli," Zayn greeted the girl. Her pastel dyed cornrows blew in the wind.
Zayn and Makhyli were Leigh's best friends. They were also her only friends, although they were complete opposites. Zayn had other relatives in heaven, so he didn't need to know much about his past. Makhyli didn't care about her past, she rather focused on her art and mini adventures with the children of heaven.
Leigh on the other hand, was desperate to know at least a little bit about her life. She wanted to know about her family down on earth, her friends, any possible relationships she may have had, and more importantly, how she died. It was something she spent most of her time thinking about. From what she had been reading about in the library, angels don't know anything about their life as a human and therefore, they didn't get nightmares or flashbacks to their death, unlike demons in hell. This whole concept confused Leigh, mostly because she had her fair share of visions. It was almost a daily situation for her. She'd go to sleep, have a regular dream, and then the dream would transform into some bizzare situation involving water and someone calling her name, in a panicked tone. Then she'd wake up.
Not really paying much attention to her friends (who were now having a conversation on their own, anyway), Leigh-Anne continued to decorate the door. Just as she was looping a tulip around the doorknob, she felt as if the patch of moss she was sitting on, was quite hard.
Knitting her brows together, she turned around, so that she was facing her friends, her back leaning slightly on the door, making it crack open slightly. She began feeling around the moss with her fingertips, searching for anything that may have been laying underneath it. Her fingers made contact with something warm, as if there was a heater on the other side of the floor.
Even more intrigued than before, she attempted to lift the moss up. After a couple of powerful tugs, she successfully pulled the green weeds off of the ground and was met with a glass window. She leaned down, trying to see what could be hidden.
Fire. So much of it. There was smoke fogging up the corners of the glass, making Leigh's eyes widen in suprise. "What the?" She mumbled to herself, placing her hand on the window to inspect it further.
Suddenly, a figure appeared on the other side of the glass. A tanned girl, with demon horns. Leigh-Anne jumped back with a scream, alerting her friends, before falling backwards.
The door behind her flung open, letting the angel fall through it. Shrieks and profanities left the girl's lips, as she continued falling.
Her feathered wings pointed at the sky, letting her see the white colour of them drain out, and being replaced with a black colour. A hot wax dripped onto her forehead, presumably from her halo that had begun to melt.
The last thing she saw, was something catching her, and wrapping her up in their wings, before everything went black.
