Leigh-Anne couldn't explain the things she was feeling. Calm wind seemed to be making contact with her warm skin, but that was simply impossible. There was no wind in heaven.
That's when the sound of metal clicking on porcelain echoed in the room. She cautiously opened her eyes, only to be met by a bright light coming from the ceiling.
"Oh good, you're awake," a voice laced with a thick accent said. Leigh-Anne jumped, not noticing there was another person with her. She trailed her eyes over to see where the voice came from.
Standing a few feet away from her, was a girl. She looked quite young. She had brunette hair, striking, doe-like, brown eyes and a tan complexion. Aside from the beauty, Leigh was most focused on the red Wings and horns attached from the girl's body. She gasped in shock, quickly discarding the fluffy white blanket that was once draped over her body, and stood over at the wall.
"Please don't hurt me!" She begged, her arms stretched out Infront of her, in an attempt to protect her fragile body.
The demon girl frowned. "Leigh, I would never even think of hurting you," she emphasised. Still, that wasn't enough to calm all of Leigh's nerves.
"How am I supposed to trust...someone like you?" Leigh wondered, her voice shaking slightly.
The girl wore a hurt expression on her face, and sighed. "Guess it's true then, huh?" She mumbled, loud enough for Leigh to hear her.
Leigh hummed in confusion.
"You angels don't remember much, do you?" Leigh shook her head at the question. "Not even my name?" Again, Leigh shook her head.
"No. I don't believe we met. Could it be that you've mistaken me for someone else?" She asked, earning a loud laugh from the mystery girl.
"Your name is Leigh-Anne Pinnock, correct?" Leigh nodded. "Then I have the right person,"
"How do I know you then..erm..." Leigh paused, not knowing the girl's name.
"Oh, my apologies. My name is Jade, Jade Thirlwall. We used to be best friends when we were kids," Jade explained.
Leigh nodded. "Jade, why did you save me? And why are you a demon? Also, where are we?"
Jade smiled. "Still as curious as I remember. That's quite a lot of questions though, so for now, all you need to know is that you're mortal now. Meaning you need to be extremely careful. We need to make sure you get enough food and water," she explained. Leigh nodded in return.
"Speaking of drinking," Jade added, walking back over to the small kitchen in the hut. Leigh watched Jade intently, as if she was trying to remember. She looked around the hut, seeing the wooden walls and matching floors, the fluffy blanket that was now laying on the floor, next to a green blanket. Curious, she approached the blanket. It was dirty and had holes in it from being worn out. Next to it, was a grey pillow.
"Here," Jade's voice brought her out of her thoughts. She turned her head to her. Jade handed her a mug, which Leigh happily accepted. She came to the conclusion that she didn't really have much of a choice other than to trust this girl, considering the fact that she didn't know anything about anything, and Jade did.
"It's green tea. It used to be your favourite," Leigh smiled at her thoughtfulness.
"How come you know so much of me after all this time?" She questioned, before sipping on her tea. She hummed approvingly once she tasted it.
Jade shook her head, quickly. "Doesn't matter. What does matter, is that we get you some suitable clothing," she said, walking over to a duffle bag in the corner of the room. Leigh cautiously waited as Jade searched around in the bag.
Jade came back holding a baggy, white shirt in her hands. "I'm going to need for you to take off your shirt," she said.
"What?!" Leigh exclaimed, covering herself with her hands. "No way, you pervert!"
Jade rolled her eyes at her. "Oh come on! I've seen you completly naked before. I have to help you hide your wings, unless you want to be killed,"
Leigh blushed, embarrassed. "And what's that going to do? If I die, I'll just go back to heaven, where I belong,"
Jade chuckled, sarcastically. "Didn't you hear me before? You're mortal now! You're also a fallen angel, which means that no, you won't be accepted into heaven again. If you die a second time, it's over. You won't go anywhere. You'll just disappear. Now, will you help me hide your wings so that doesn't happen?" She said with a serious look on her face.
Leigh stood there, silent. She nodded and began taking off her shirt, revealing nothing underneath. Jade walked over to her with the shirt, looking at her face the whole time. Leigh was happy that she didn't take advantage of her state to stare at her naked torso.
Jade gently grabbed Leigh's wings, wrapping them around Leigh's body. "Can you hold them there, please?" She asked. Leigh complied.
After a few minutes, Leigh was fully dressed again. Jade smiled at her. "It baffles me, how you can wear the most simplest things, and still look absolutely beautiful in it," she gushed, eyes glued to Leigh.
Leigh blushed while she was under the girl's gaze.
--
They were sitting on Leigh's bed, talking about random things that came to their minds. Jade had changed into a shirt that covered her wings too. She said that people would think that her horns were makeup. "This generation is very creative with their fashion, so compared to them, I'd say I look pretty normal," she chuckled. Leigh giggled.
"We should probably go get some money from the bank," Jade observed, standing up from the bed and walking over to the front door.
Leigh agreed and followed her.
--
"I can't believe you just broke into that bank!" Leigh whisper-yelled at Jade, as they quickly ran away from the bank.
"Where else was I meant to get the money from? I don't have a job here," Jade laughed, out of breath from running.
"Alright, race you to that big building with the leaf on it!" Leigh said, not leaving Jade any time to respond before she ran off into the distance.
"Leigh!" Jade yelled, not knowing what the girl meant. She quickly understood when she saw a shopping center, decorated with the Canadian flag. "Oh you're on," the demon mumbled, before sprinting over to the building.
