The Grand Canyon. One of Jade's favourite places. When she was alive, she would always dream of going there, and she didn't know why. Something about it just made her feel warm, and not because it was incredibly hot in Arizona. It had another reason. One that she could never let Leigh know about.
They were walking, hand in hand through the canyon. Talking about random things that Leigh wanted to know about earth.
"So there are animals mortals can have, and some they can't?" Leigh questioned. She had brought up the topic of adopting animals. Jade found it adorable.
"Yep. They can have things like dogs, cats and even horses, but not things like crocodiles and elephants. That's only if they have a licence," Jade explained. Leigh's eyes lit up, smiling from ear to ear.
"I want a dog!" Leigh exclaimed.
Jade giggled at her, playfully rolling her eyes. "You used to have two dogs,"
Leigh turned to her. "Really?"
Jade nodded. "Yep, Kyro and Harvey,"
Leigh smiled. "I want to see them again. Can we?" She looked up at Jade, a hopeful look in her sparkling eyes.
Jade's features sofend, and she turned away again. "It was five years ago. They were already quite old," she said, not wanting to actually say what she meant.
"Oh," Leigh whispered, the mood ruined.
Jade bit her lip, trying to think of ways to make everyone happy again. A smirk made it's way over to her face when she thought of something.
"Did you know that demons are much faster than angels in the air?" She asked.
Leigh-Anne knitted her eyebrows together. "Yeah, you always fly so damn fast when we go anywhere!" She laughed.
Jade gasped. "Leigh-Anne Pinnock, angels do not swear!" She exclaimed, holding a hand over her mouth.
They laughed for a while. Jade then suddenly took Leigh's hand in her own and wrapped her arms around the angel. Leigh was suprised, and before she could react, Jade's wings ripped through her shirt, and they were in the air.
--
The girls were right, New York really was beautiful! Jade had taken Leigh to sit on the statue of liberty. Leigh gazed down on the gorgeous sight Infront of her. Waves came crashing in, birds were flying all over the place, and best of all, no one could tell that they were there. Still, they made sure to stay safe by keeping their wings hidden.
"What is hell like?" Leigh wondered, while still looking at the water.
Jade seemed taken by surprise by that question. She cleared her throat before speaking. "Well, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. You only get tortured if you did something horrible. Those people are locked in chambers, and they get their fireproof abilities taken from them, so that they burn. I never really made any friends there, 'cos they think I'm this snobby, anti-social girl, and they ain't that wrong,"
Leigh giggled at her comment. "Seems like fun," she said, sarcastically. "Why are you a demon, anyway?" She hesitantly asked.
Jade's breath hitched in her throat. Her hands began to sweat and shake, and she went silent for a while. Leigh wondered if she had crossed a line, yet again, she had a habit of doing that. The silence was loud. The only things you could hear, were the waves, birds chirping and the wind blowing freely. Leigh wanted to relate to the wind. She missed being free, being able to fly whenever she wanted, however on the other hand, she loved being on this journey. She loved being with Jade. She had a connection with her that she had never felt before. It was as if something was drawing her in. Anytime she was near the demon, her heart would flutter, she became nervous, and she had this urge to hold her, to protect her, and to kiss her.
"I'm really sorry if I made you uncomfortable," she mumbled, shyly.
"No, no it's fine. I'll tell you," Jade replied. She took a deep breath. "An accident,"
Leigh was confused. Should she say anything? Jade had always been a bit reserved, this whole time they'd been traveling together. She couldn't imagine the pain that Jade was feeling, her former best friend not knowing who she was. That must have stung.
Jade's chuckle brought Leigh out of her thoughts. "Why are you an angel?" She asked.
Leigh shrugged. "I don't know. I lost all my memories, remember?"
"Well they must've made a mistake. You're definitely not as innocent and pure as you think you are," Jade said, playfully poking Leigh's sides, making her squirm.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Leigh frowned.
Jade laughed, before a smirk played on her face. In the span of a few seconds, she tackled Leigh, throwing her off of the statue they were sitting on. Leighs screams were muffled by Jade's hand over her mouth.
As the two were falling, Leigh got an idea. She bit Jade's hand, enough for her to let her go, but not hard enough to hurt her. She grabbed onto Jade's waist, letting her wings rip through the fabric of the cheap shirt she was wearing."Leigh! Let me go!" Jade begged, pouting.
"Awe, is the poor baby not in control for once?" Leigh teased, before bursting out in a fit of laughter.
Jade crossed her arms, tugging at Leigh's arms, allowing her to slip through them and fly on her own.
They flew through the wind, for what seemed like hours. The whole time, Leigh was mesmerized by Jade's effortless beauty. The way her hair blew in the wind, how her skin looked so smooth, her lips so soft, her entire being so attractive, like a magnet.
"Having fun eye-fucking me there?" Jade joked, wiggling her eyes at Leigh. Leigh blushed.
"C-could we go to another country?" Leigh asked.
Jade nodded. "Sure, but there's just one more thing I wanna do here with you in America. I promise, you're going to love it!"
Question: where do you think Jade is going to take Leigh in the next chapter?
