Karamel: Complicated {Part One}

11 • I thought...

It had taken till the next evening for Kara to go and talk to Mon-el. She hated what happened and what she said during their fight.

She had avoided going to the DEO during the day in hopes of not having to see him but then she realised she had been given a second chance on earth, so she should try and become a better person and go and apologise.

Kara raised her hand to knock on the door of Mon-el's apartment, she hesitated for a moment, but she knocked. Then she heard footsteps on the other side.

The door opened, Mon-el stood there surprised look on his face once he realised who it was.

Kara looked up at him. "Hey." She said softly. "Hi." He replied.

"Can we talk?"
"Sure.." he said opened the door more and let her in.

They stood there in the middle of Mon-el's apartment.

"I wanted to apologise. You were right. I was reckless, stupid, I wasn't thi-"
"No, Kara, I was wrong to shout at you, you were only trying to help and I shouldn't said those things. I'm sorry" He said interrupting her.

Mon-el looked up at Kara. "It's just... it scared me so much when I saw you thrown across the room like that. I didn't want you to get hurt and I feel it's my fault you did. I'm superman! The whole point of being a superhero is that I should be able to deal with these things, so no one else gets hurt."

"Mon-el it's not your fault, I saw you there with Livewire and I just knew I had to help you. Even if you are Superman, it still doesn't mean you can't need help. And I'm sorry for what I said." She responded.

Kara looked down at her hands. "I'm sorry I lied to you. I should of been honest and told you I remembered kissing you."

"Kara don't worry, I get that you kissed me when you were drunk and you just probably wanted to forget about it."

"Mon-el I maybe have been drunk but that's not why I kissed you." A confused look appeared on Mon-el's face.

Kara continued. "Ok so maybe me being drunk might have had a small part to play but I do remember seeing you sitting there and I just... I got this feeling that I would regret it if I didn't."

Kara stepped closer to him. "Mon-el, the reason why I tried to help you at CatCo is because I saw you in pain and I couldn't stand it. I realised I have these feelings for you. I've never felt like this before and didn't realise it was possible to care about someone so much."

Kara looked up into Mon-el eyes. Their faces just a few inches away.

"Last year I thought I couldn't have it all, that I had to chose between being Superman and having a relationship. So I chose to be Superman. But standing here, with you, I realised I can have it all, and that doesn't seem so bad." Mon-el said.

Mon-el reached out and tucked Kara's hair behind her ear, but his hand lingered on the side of her face.

"You know your eyes are like comets, I've never seen anything like it and I think that's one of the most beautiful parts of you Kara Zor-el." He said softly.

A smile appeared on Kara's face.

Mon-el leant down, as he was about to kiss her, but she pulled away and stepped back.

"Kara you alright? What is it?"

"Mon-el I'm sorry, I can't do this."
"What? Why? What's wrong?" He asked, confused.

"I can't stand here and do this. I owe you so much but most of all I owe you the truth. I want to do this but I care about you too much to continue lying to you."

"Kara what are you talking about? I know you lied about the kiss but-"

"That's not the only thing I lied about." She took a deep breath. "I lied about who I was on Daxam. I thought I could have a new start here. I thought I wouldn't need roles or titles. You made me realise I could be who ever I wanted, I realised I could be a better person and I need to be completely honest to do that. I-"

"Kara... who were you on Daxam?"

"I was part of the royal family. I was... I was the princess of Daxam. I was spoilt, mean and a brat. But then I met you and I realised the error in my ways. And I hope that you can still see the good in me."

Mon-el just looked at Kara, a shocked look on his face.

"Mon-el please say something."

"What do you expect me to say Kara?!You can't take back the fact that you lied to me, twice. I thought you just part of the damaged system on Daxam, but actually you benefited from it! You ruled it! I can't do this."

Mon-el walked over and opened the front door.

"Mon-el please, don't do this."

"I think you need to leave."

Kara just looked at him. She had a broken look in her eyes. Then she walked out.

As soon as each they were other of each other's sight, they both started crying, heartbroken at what had just unfolded.

Quick note: Mon-el's apartment/loft is exactly the same layout as Kara's from the show but with deferent furniture etc...
