Karamel: Complicated {Part One}

30 • Lena

Kara and Mon-el stood in a big open ballroom. Kara was wearing a short white, lace dress. Mon-el was wearing a typical blue suit.

"This place is beautiful, thank you for inviting me." Kara said.
"No problem, I thought you'd enjoy the party." Mon-el replied, he reached and linked his hand in hers. "That dress looks amazing on you." Kara smiled at his compliment.

They both look out across the party, a black haired woman walk though the crowd. She was wearing a floor length, black off-the-shoulder dress.

"Who is that?" Asked Kara.
"Lena Luthor, she owns the company holding this gala."

She walked over to the pair. "You must be Mike Danvers, from CatCo?" asked Lena.
Mon-el smiled. "Yes, and this is my girlfriend, Kara."
Lena stretched out a hand. "Lovely to meet you Kara...?"
"Just Kara." Said Kara as she reached out and shook Lena's hand.
"Thank you for accepting my invitation, are you having a good time?" She asked.
"Yes we are, this is a lovely party." Said Kara.
"Thank you, please have some food, drinks, dance. I'll be making a speech soon." Lena said, she smiled and then walked off.

"Shall we...?" Mon-el stench out his hand.
"We shall." Kara said, taking his hand. He led her over across to the dance floor.

Mon-el placed his arms around Kara and smiled. They danced together looking into each other's eyes, it felt like it was just them and the music where the only things in the world.

Eventually Kara rested her head on his shoulder. "This is nice." She said.
"Yeah, I love dancing with you." Mon-el kissed the top of her head. "Your like the perfect person to dance with." Mon-el continued with a small laugh.

The music slowly faded out and the lights all dimed, except those on the stage. Everyone turned and faced it and walked Lena walked onto over to the podium.

"Hello everyone, welcome and thank you for coming to celebrate this momentous occasion. As you all know, I'm Lena Luthor and today I'm here to reveal the new name for Luthor Crop. As I am now the CEO, I felt that a different name would help symbolise the difference I want to make. I know this may seem a small change but I believe it will show the new age I want to bring this company into. I am dedicated to making a positive impact on the world thought this company, wether that is thought new technology, investing in the future or helping out charities. My brother hurt a lot of good, innocent people. My family owes a debt, not just to Metropolis, but to the world. I intend to pay that. By renaming my company L-Corp, we will usher in a new age of cooperation and community. Together, we will chart a brighter future." Lena spoke.

She then pressed a button on the podium, a cloth fell of an adjacent wall, revealing the new L-Corp symbol. Everyone turned to look and applauded. A smile spread across Lena's face, she felt so proud at what she had accomplished.

"What did her brother do?" Kara asked Mon-el.
"Um... his name was Lex, he was the owner of the company and even worked with Superwoman, my cousin, for awhile, they were good friends. But Lex had some cruel ways that not everyone approved of and eventually turned on Cia. She defeated him and he ended up in jail." Mon-el explained.

"Wow, your family's certainly have a history." Said Kara.
"Yeah but Lena is different, she's definitely cunning and clever like a Luthor but she has a kind heart, she wants to help this world not destroy it." Said Mon-el.

"She wants to be different from her family, I get that." Said Kara.
"I know you do." Mon-el put his arm round her shoulders and kissed her cheek.

"Aww you two are adorable." Said Lena, walking up behind them.
"Thank you." Mon-el smiled.

"I'm gonna go get a drink, do you guys want anything?" Asked Mon-el.
"Yes please." Said Kara. Mon-el looked over at Lena.
"No thank you, I'm good." Mon-el nodded and walked off.

"So what did you think of my speech?" Asked Lena.
"It was really good, I like the new symbol." Kara said.
"Thanks, I thought it would be a good idea, new representation of the company."
"It's nice to see a woman in charge." Said Kara.
"Yes I agree." Lena said, smiling. "What about you? What do you do for a living?"
"I don't have a job right now, I haven't exactly had time to look for one, I've been very busy setting up my fresh start."

"Be very grateful for free time, I've been very busy organising this and running the company. Say, I'm new to the city, would it be werid if I asked you to hang out sometime?" Lena said.

"I'd love that, but I'm kinda new to the city as well." Replied Kara. Lena laughed.

"Where did you use to live?" Asked Lena.
"I um I lived in this small town in the south and I just wanted to get away from my family and my past, so I ended up here. And so far it's working out really well." Kara said, smiling.

"Yes Mike seems like lovely man, I can't wait to read his piece on L-Corp." Lena said.

Mon-el walked back over to the girls and handed Kara her drink. "Hey how's everything going?"
"Very well I would say. Anyway, I can't wait to read you piece on L-Corp. And if you have any questions feel free to give me a call." Said Lena.
"Thank you and I would love to interview you at some point as well."
"That's sounds lovely."

"I've got to go mingle, I will see you guys around. It was lovely to meet you both." Lena said.
"It's was lovely to me you too." Said Kara.
