A New Journey

...

Another month passed by with no improvement in Abhirika's relationship. Yes, they were friends. They met up at canteen with team and also go out. But always with team. Abhijeet never made a move to ask her out alone and not only that he never gave Tarika chance to initiate. And this was driving Tarika crazy. He didn't avoid her right away. She felt like he's tricky with his avoidance. His busy work schedules always worked as blessing in this case.

Somewhere his avoidance was making Tarika stubborn. She kept thinking about him more and more. She'd even considered if she's obsessed with him? Why couldn't she think anything else apart from him. Well, she's not at fault here entirely. He was interested in her. Anybody could tell that. But he wasn't interested to show it off. Tarika wished she could get more time to spend with him so that she could know what bothered him so much about her. Tarika was fine with being slow but not this much slow. It was driving her nuts. She's afraid she would end up doing something terrible. But to sit and watch him making himself distant from her also felt terrible.

"No, I need to take a step. I have to let him know that I like him. Yes, I will do it." Tarika determined and took a deep breath before starting her car.

But stopped right away. There he was, coming out of Bureau with his both palms over his head trying to protect himself from the falling rain. He's so cute.

Tarika pulled down the glass of her car and called him.

"Abhijeet!"

Abhijeet stopped but wasn't sure if he's name being called or he misheard.

"Abhijeet! This way... Here." Tarika shouted at him.

Abhijeet's eyes finally caught the sight of the beautiful lady sitting inside her car. He stepped forward and bent a little to talk to her.

"You are still here? Its pretty late Tarika." The inspector said to his female colleague.

"Yeah, I was experiencing with some chemicals. Don't mind that. Come, I will drive you. The weather isn't good. It will rain heavily soon and you are getting drenched already."

"You sure? 'Cause I can call a cab. You have to drive around 6 km extra to drive me home."

"It's fine Abhijeet. It doesn't take a lot of efforts to drive a car." Tarika smiled.

"Umm, okay. I also don't want to get drenched while waiting for a cab." Abhijeet shrugged and stood straight. He then walked around the car and opening the door took the passenger seat.

"Thanks for the lift." He said, fixing his seat belt.

"C'mon." Tarika rolled her eyes as she started driving.

"Daya took my car," Abhijeet informed the lady forensic expert once they started the journey. "He's at servicing. I landed him my vehicle for an hour but he has taken that to his home." Abhijeet narrated, slightly annoyed.

Tarika smiled, concentrating on the road.

"Thanks once again. Its hard to get a cab when it's raining."

"It's okay Abhijeet. No formalities." Tarika said with a smile.

"Are you upset?" Abhijeet asked out of blue.
