A new Journey
...
"Yeah bye. Take care." Tasha cut the call with a small smile.
Abhijeet was looking at her all the time she was speaking over phone with her room mate. He was dying to know if she was okay. Why she missed the lab? Did she drink too much? If she was having hangover effects pretty bad? But alas, he couldn't ask. He had to keep his questions to himself. But he wanted to know.
"Tasha..."
"Yes sir?" Tasha asked moving towards him.
"Your flight is due tomorrow morning at 08. 00 am."
"Yes sir." Tasha said professionally.
"Have you packed?"
"I will do tonight sir."
"You are very clumsy in arranging things. I am afraid you will mess up with your packing." Abhijeet teased her.
She was indeed a mess in packing. But how did he know? Oh, she didn't even bother to ask. He and his detective skills are way more better than her imagination.
"Tarika will help me. She always does." Tasha smiled.
Abhijeet nodded.
"Speaking of your friend, how's she? Why's she not attending lab today?"Abhijeet asked, keeping his tone as normal as possible.
Tasha looked at him with a slightly open mouth and a smirk on her lips. You know, the kind of look you pass in a teasing manner. "What?" Abhijeet added, seeing her junior's expression.
"No, nothing. She's fine. I mean she will be fine."
"Will be?" Abhijeet's tone was slightly higher than usual.
"I mean," Tasha shook her head to jerk off her mind from the surprises her senior was giving, "she gets pretty bad hangovers. She rarely drinks that's why. She's been sleeping taking pills. She will be fine by evening."
Abhijeet nodded. A part of him was crashing down, blaming himself for her condition.
"She will be fine sir. Trust me." Tasha said, fondly.
"She should." Abhijeet took a deep breath.
"Can, can I ask you a question?"
"Not about your friend." Abhijeet make that clear.
Tasha's face fell. Abhijeet didn't want to make her sad before her first mission. He didn't know exactly when he started to consider her more than a junior. Of course, he was kind and a good mentor to all of the officers in bureau but Tasha was different. He always had more expectations from her. May be because she was very focused towards her work, very passionate and hard working. Yet, he found something extra in her. Being a very good detective and a well observer he did notice her bad mouthing him, cursing him at starting. He never felt bad about any of them from anyone ever. So it wasn't new when he had them from her either. Over the time he could feel her worshiping him as a senior. It always happened to him. So, it wasn't new either. Then, where did she make him feel different? Abhijeet couldn't help but chuckled on his own thinking how the two of the most new members of CID Mumbai drove his emotions crazy, and to be noted - not in the same way.
