A new journey
...
2 Days after the incident, Abhijeet was sitting in his cabin thinking about Tarika all over again. Surely, he felt a different kind of thing when her lips touched his', different than any kind of feelings he had ever possessed in his life. Although on denial for months now, he knew he had feelings for the beautiful forensic expert and its more evident now. And what was more confirmed than his feelings? Well, the news of her being in love with him. Love! May be its just infatuation. And the same is happening with him too.
But why not giving in this infatuation? Why not giving it a try. If it wouldn't work, it wouldn't. Why's there so much useless hesitation? Was it because, more than the failure he feared success?
"What am I even thinking?" Abhijeet shrugged and looked away from his file to clear his mind.
"Good morning sir."
Abhijeet looked at the enterance and found Tasha walking in, greeting everyone. She sure looked down, just like other two days. Abhijeet's eyes travelled behind her over the corridor to see if her friend had accompanied her today bur the corridor was empty. Should he talk to Tasha about it? Or should he directly talk to Tarika? Why was she missing out her works.
'Because I was very rude to her. I could have talked to her patiently. Why did I ask her to leave that abruptly?' Abhijeet cursed himself.
"Sir the call records of all the suspects of this case." Tasha said forwarding a file towards his mentor, making him to come out from his dream zone.
Abhijeet nodded taking the file in his hands and went through it.
'There's no way Tarika haven't told Tasha about that night. Should I ask Tasha?' Abhijeet thought.
"It alright." Abhijeet said.
"Okay sir." Tasha turned around to leave but stopped and called him, "Sir?"
"Yeah?" Abhijeet looked up.
Tasha tried to read her senior's expression. Although she was expert in reading people's face she found it hard to read this man. He had got layers of mask and it was kind of impossible to invade them. She didn't knew if she would ever be okay with her best friend falling for this man. And whatever has happened recently she doubt it even more.
She remembered Tarika running into her arms and crying like a baby, blaming herself for messing up things with him. She was broken, embarrassed and hurt. Tasha did try to console her but she was stubborn. And during this time Tasha got to know that its not infatuation or likeness anymore. She's really into this arrogant man. And she didn't know how to help her friend.
"Tasha?" Abhijeet urged her to talk.
"Umm... No sir, nothing."
"You sure?"
"Yeah." Tasha nodded.
"Okay..."
Tasha turned to leave again.
"Tasha.." Abhijeet called her again.
She stopped and turned round. His voice gave away the question he was going to ask.
"How.. how's your friend doing?" Abhijeet asked, the guilt was clearly evident over his voice.
