A New Journey
...
"I think I should wait in the lobby." Abhijeet's hoarse voice invade the silence of the almost dark hotel room they were in.
Tarika looked at her side listening his statement and found him leaning against the cupboard, under the yellow dim light. His always ever so arrogantly set hair was all wet and falling in his eyes. His coat was half wet and so that his shirt and jeans.
Tarika was drenched as well. Her hair and clothes were so wet that she was literally shivering sitting on the large bed of the hotel room. She did have dried her hair with a towel but still it was cold.
Abhijeet gasped as his eyes meet hers. The environment, the lingering feelings, the dim light, the weather and on top of everything her drenched self was developing all together a very different feeling in him. He was tempted by her, by her stares to some extent that he was forced to think if his feelings for her was physical only? He had always thought she's gorgeous. In some rare occasions he did long for her mere touches. Its been weeks and still he could feel her lips on his, fresh.
He jerked away his thoughts. Perhaps, it was a bad idea to stop by and book a room in this highway side hotel. But what could they have done possibly? Their car stopped working and then this bad weather. Somehow they got hold of a taxi and managed to tow their car as well to the workshop. The car was supposed to be sent at this hotel after being fixed. So, they just couldn't leave the hotel as well. Plus, the road was blocked too. It would take time.
"It's okay. I am fine." Tarika said, rubbing her arms and looked away from him. His insane hair was even more prominent after rain and it was hard not to be seduced by that. Specially, when she had feelings for him. Strong feelings.
"Should I order coffee for you?" Abhijeet asked.
"No, its fine. When can we leave?" Tarika asked.
Abhijeet sighed. Perhaps, she was really uncomfortable and he should leave her alone.
"I will wait outside." Abhijeet started to walk out of the door. He had just passed the bed when Tarika stood up. She was facing his back.
"Why do you jump into conclusion so easily?" Tarika asked offended.
Abhijeet stopped, paused and then turned around slowly. A rueful chuckle was playing over his lips.
"I didn't." He said tilting his head a bit.
"Of course you did. I didn't ask you to leave the room." Tarika said firmly, gesturing with her hands.
"I was just trying to be helpful. I can understand if you are not comfortable around me in this condition. And that doesn't mean I am jumping into any conclusion." The firmness in his voice matched hers'.
"You are trying to be helpful?" Tarika asked raising her one eye brow.
"Of course." Abhijeet said, confidently.
"Then talk to me." Tarika said out of blue.
"What?" Senior Inspector Abhijeet was perplexed.
"Go on. Speak out. This is the only helpful thing you can offer to me right now. I am tired of it Abhijeet!" The last part of her statement came out helpless.
