On the carriage ride home, everyone was kind of flinching towards me whenever we hit a bump. After the tenth time, I spoke up. "I'm fine everyone. You don't need to jump at every bump in the road."

They all blushed in embarrassment and sat up straight. We hit another bump and no one moved. I smiled to myself. Within a few minutes, we were home. Everyone filed out of the carriage, myself leaving last. Catharine reached towards me from the ground and I picked her up.

"Y/N, why did C/N have to pull you out of the fire? No one will tell me!" She whined.

I poked her nose lightly and she giggled. "He did that because I needed to be pulled out." I explained vaguely. She frowned and crossed her arms. "You know what I mean! Come on
Y/N! Tell me!"

I shook my head, my H/C hair swaying. "Nothing Caty, just some mean Redcoats." I lied. Mean was such an understatement, but my little sister didn't need to know that.

Catharine just shrugged and I set her down once we reached the doorway. "Go on and get a maid to draw a bath for the girls." Mother said. The girls almost always—this case included—meant Cornelia and Catharine. Otherwise, Angelica, Elizabeth, Margarita, and I were just called our normal names or on occasion, the older girls.

I sighed and offered, "I'll draw it for them." Mother gave me a worried look but let me.

"Come on 'Nelia, come on Caty." I said kindly, walking for the powder room. They giggled and followed me like small ducks. We walked into the serene white room and I got water, dumping it into the porcelain tub.

It took only three minutes to fill, so I stripped my little sisters. Cornelia fought me, ripping the strings she tied her dress with from my hands each time. While this chaos was happening, Catharine just sat in the water, but she was fully dressed. "Ugh! Catharine!" I scolded, picking her up and hauling her out. Cornelia made a dash for the door but I shut it, the lock clicking.

"Oh no you don't!" I snapped, grabbing her. I set her in my lap, back to my chest, and wrapped my legs around her arms and her own legs. She screamed and fought as I untied her dress. Once I slid off her underclothes, I set her in the water.

She pouted silently while I stripped Catharine, who gave me no fuss. I set them both in and grabbed the soap, getting some on my hands before washing Cornelia. She squirmed and scooted out of reach.

"Cornelia Schuyler! I have had a day! Get over here and stop fighting me!"

She paled a bit and scooted back to her spot. "Thank you." I breathed before getting the soap suds on her body. I moved to Catharine and started cleaning her.

"Dunk." I said to them both. They inhaled before dunking their entire bodies under the water. After a few silent seconds, they resurfaced and took deep breaths. "Good good." I said. I pulled them out of the tub and grabbed a towel.

I dried them off and they giggled. I unlocked the door and poked my head out and shouted, "Someone get me clothes for Caty and 'Nelia, I forgot them! Sorry!"

I watched as Elizabeth searched the rooms, coming back with two orange dresses. I thanked her and faced my sisters again.

I grabbed Cornelia's underclothes and called her over. She reluctantly stepped forward and let me dress her. I tied off her orange dress with the blue bow around her waist. I opened the door for her. "Go to mother and have her brush your hair." I said as she ran out.

I faced Catharine and dressed her. Instead of blue, she had a purple bow. I opened the door again and we walked out. I heard a few piano keys struck and looked at the instrument as I walked downstairs.

Elizabeth was singing a French number song to Cornelia, who's hair was nice and brushed.

"Un duex trois," Elizabeth sang beautifully. "One two three!" Cornelia chimed. "Quatre cinq six," "Four five six!"

"Sept huit neuf!"

"Seven eight nine!!!"

I giggled and walked over. "May I?" I asked. Elizabeth stood and I took her spot beside Cornelia. "Now you sing the French and I'll sing English." I said kindly. She eagerly nodded and I struck a single key, getting a rhythm.

"Un do twa!" Cornelia pipped. "No no no. Deux trois." I said calmly. She nodded and I replayed the tune. "Un deux trois!" I smiled in approval. "One two three!"

"Kratree sink six!" I sighed. "Quatre cinq." I explained, clearly annunciating. "Oh." I hit the keys again. "Quaintee cinq six!" I laughed and shook my head. "Close! Quatre." She frowned. "Quatre cinq six." She said boredly. "Good!" I praised. She smiled and I continued to play.

"Sept huit nuef!"

"Seven eight nine!" I cheered. "Ready to go faster?" She nodded and I played the tune at the correct speed.

"Un deux trois!"

"One two three,"

"Quatre cinq six!"

"Four five six,"

"Sept huit nuef!"

"Seven eight nine! Great job!"

She beamed with pride. She got up from the piano and danced around as I played a whimsical tune. She giggled and spun cheerily. Elizabeth laughed and clapped to the tune. A few male heads poked into the room and started dancing with us.

We all laughed as my fingers danced across the piano, striking just the right keys. The boys took turns dancing with Elizabeth and Cornelia, and soon enough all the siblings were having great fun!

John as dancing with Angelica, Jeremiah with Margarita, Rensselaer with Cornelia, and Catharine was spinning in Elizabeth's arms. John stopped his dance with Angelica and pulled me away from the piano, Angelica taking my spot.

I laughed and twirled with John, dancing synchronized with my siblings. This was well needed after the day we have all had. Just plain old fun!
