Yi wasn't surprised when she was told that Dr. Holt was found dead, with his neck snapped, the next morning. She knew it was Eren. It was no coincidence that he was found dead right after she confessed to him. Although the rational part of her mind told her to report him at once and reveal his Eldian status. But she didn't care. She saw it as a kind gesture for her. In fact, she felt relieved. Yi didn't have to worry about creepy men in the workplace for a bit. Until the next one inevitably takes Holt's spot.
A death in the staff didn't mean that they could take a day off. Yi made her usual morning rounds. She excitedly made her way to Eren's bed only to find a staff member cleaning up the area.
"Where's Eren?" she asked the lady.
"Hospital kicked him out. Since Holt's gone they let all of his patients without life threatening injuries go." the lady responded.
"What? But he was getting treated for PTSD!" Yi said. The lady just shrugged and walked away. That meant that Eren was on the streets with no place to go. She had no doubt that he could take care of himself but she still wanted to make sure that he didn't reveal anything about his abilities to anyone else.

After Yi's shift she wandered the streets trying to find Eren. The streets were quieter now that the children were gone. She wondered how they were doing. If they were okay. She didn't doubt any of their abilities. They would come home in perfect condition so she wasn't worried at all.
"Eren!" she called out. Some people on the street looked at her in annoyance. She didn't care. She called his name once more. No response. It was starting to get late and the sky was turning darker. She decided that she would find him tomorrow.
When Yi got to her apartment she instantly noticed something wrong. The potted plant that stood next to her door was moved a few centimeters off center. She took out the knife she carried and cautiously inspected her home. The intruder could be hiding anywhere. Yi clutched the knife tighter, her hand started to get sweaty.
She checked her kitchen. It was the way she had left it when she last left. She moved onto the small living room and touched the couch. It had a soft indent and a fading warmth. She now knew that the intruder had to still be in the apartment. She headed to her room and checked under the bed and inside all of the closets. To no avail, she found no one. Then a loud groan was heard and she rushed into the bathroom.
Eren lay in her tub with a large knife, sawing off his leg.
"Eren!" she yelled.
He looked up from his leg at her. "Hi." he continued what he was doing, biting on a cloth.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Eren groaned through the pain as he finally cut through the bone, "I started healing."
"So you decided to cut off your leg?!" Yi dropped her knife and rushed to his side, "For the second time!" She opened the bathroom cabinet and took out several rolls of bandages. She cut his pants and started to apply pressure on the wound. "Wait, why am I doing this? You can just heal your leg again."
"Yi, I still need to make it seem like I'm a normal Eldian."
She sighed, "You're not very convincing. First off, you're not in the internment zone. And second, your arm band is on the wrong side." She ripped it off his arm and put it on the correct one. "And you're also horrible at faking your PTSD."
Eren chuckled, "You sound like someone I know."
Yi cocked her head to the side, "Who? Is that a good thing?"
"My sister, Mikasa." he answered. He smiled just a bit, making Yi smile too. "She's annoying." Yi's smile dropped and playfully punched his arm. Eren chuckled, "She's of the Azumabito clan."
"Well now that's just racist." she joked. "We're not all the same you know."
"And if she's from the Azumabitos then wouldn't that make you one too?" she asked.
Eren shook his head, "No, she's my adoptive sister. Her parents were a patient of my father. One day we found them dead so I went to find her myself. When I found her she was on the floor with several grown men surrounding her. I pretended to be a lost kid and killed a few of them."
Yi's eyes widened, "How old were you?"
"Nine." he answered. "How old were you when you first killed?"
Yi looked down in shame, "Seventeen. He tried to do what Holt did and I grabbed a gun and shot him in the head."
Eren noticed her guilt and tilted her chin up, "You did it because of a natural instinct. Your bloodlust told you to do it and you did it to survive."
Yi looked at his eyes. They were really green. And pretty too. Their faces were leaning closer together when Eren groaned out in pain.
"Ah fuck!" he yelped.
Yi pulled away and saw her hand resting on his amputated leg. "Oh my god I'm so sorry!" she laughed. Eren smiled through his pain and laughed along with her. It had been a while since he truly laughed. It was genuine and not fake and forced. He enjoyed her company, she made him feel what he hadn't felt since he was a child. He felt happy.
