I always leave a note at the end of all my stories, and this is no exception.
The Follow you or to Lose you message may vary depending on who reads it. For some it may mean more, for others less and for others nothing. I meant a lot of things here, but I want to believe you've noticed those things throughout history. Still, there are three lessons I would love to highlight.
The first is about acceptance: Whenever I read a book where the protagonist has some problem, there is talk about change, acceptance, solutions... I don't hate them, because I understand that society wants us all to be equal. Still, I wanted to create something different. Camila never tried to change Lauren and Lauren never tried to change Camila. Some things happened unintentionally, not because there was any pressure. They were accepted as they were.
It's okay to be different. Disorders, illnesses, or disabilities shouldn't be seen as negative if they don't affect society in the same way.
And it's okay to be different, because those who claim to be unique really are all the same.
The second lesson is a little more understandable in the epilogue: Sacrifice must be egalitarian.
Yes, all loves can work. Love at a distance, between speakers of different languages, and even between insane people. Of course, it can't work if you're both unwilling to give up half your pieces.
Love is sacrifice, but it must not be seen as frightening. Actually, we sacrificed half our pieces to put together a puzzle that no one else could have.
The third lesson will be brief: Never trust time. It's cruel, simple as that, so don't expect too much or do anything hastily. Either way, everything can go very wrong.
I guess that's it. Thank you for reading. I hope you loved this story as much as I did.
It's my favorite, believe me, because I wrote it knowing it'd have this ending. I wrote it to give hope, because real life can also be insanely wonderful.
