I woke up to yelling and fighting across the hall. Most likely my parents, again. I sighed and picked up my pillow slamming it on my fave to try and stop the loud noise.
I never enjoyed summer as much as the other kids in my grade. My small city residing in Missouri made it hard for me to get out of the house, especially with covid regulations nowadays. Ive lost all my friends due to everything going virtual.
Ive let myself go, my hair growing out to a length i didn't prefer it to be. Ive started taking more care of my siblings than myself. The only thing i can seem to find time to do is read and continue with my job at the library down the street as well ad my part time streaming job with Asterin and Izzy.
The library was in walking distance and i'd been going since i could walk myself and even before then whenever my mother would take us to get some books. My siblings always hated it, the going out to the library every weekend. So we stopped as it was only me wanting to go.
That's when i decided that going myself was better than not going at all. I made a plan to go every weekend; late at night so i wouldn't get caught. ai would stay in the library until after closing hours with the woman behind the desk. Her presence grew comfortable after so many years.
I love working at the library, but i love being a content creator even more. Knowing i make a slight change in people's lives keeps me going day to day. It gives me a little more spring in my step. I could be the cause of someone's good day, and that's all ive ever wanted to do.
"Care, they're fighting again." Jackson informed, walking into my bedroom.
"I know, Jay. Just lay down and try to ignore them." I comforted, removing the pillow from my face. He nodded, laying down in the bed next to me. I gave him my phone and put it on do not disturb while he watched cartoons.
I pulled the book from my bedside table and opened to where the bookmark saved my spot. Reading always helped me escape, it was a nice distraction. I could just read about other people's lives and forget how much of a mess mine can be from time to time. Like right now, for example.
Asterin hasn't messaged me nor Izzy in weeks. Izzy is basically living with Will so she doesn't reach out much either. When she does it's to ask for advice of how to go about another argument between her and Tommy. I don't mind it, her asking for advice, I'm glad I can be that support system. Ranboo has been absolutely off the grid, though I was never really close with him to begin with. Tommy messages me to check up on me in place of Izzy, but it's not the same. I love him dearly, but it's not the same as Izzy. I'm glad he checks in though, it has made us closer.
Now we have Tubbo, Toby as I call him because he prefers it. He is the most uncomplicated but extremely complicated person I have right now. He talks to me everyday, even if I don't answer. He checks in, he calls, he asks me about my books. He keeps me company but gives me space when I need it.
He lives an ocean away, and I'm finding myself infatuated already?
I can't tell if it's because he's helping me through the bad times I'm currently going through, or if it's because he's such a nice and lovely person.
"Who's Toby?" Jackson asked me, looking at me as the cartoon continued to play.
"He's a friend of mine, did he message me?"
"Yeah, in all capital letters." Jackson said, smiling softly at me as he handed me my phone. I read the message and my heart stopped halfway through our conversation.

RANBOO WAS SUPPOSED TO FLY OUT BUT HE CANCELLED ON ME AND NOW I HAVE A PLANE TICKET THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO USE BECAUSE ASTERIN IS OFF THE GRID

I was going to surprise you with a ticket yourself but this opportunity had arrived and it's easier for me to switch where the ticket takes off from then cancelling that and buying a new one
