Je te laisserai des mots - Patrick Watson
It was currently nine o'clock at night. I was reading my Harry Potter book peacefully when my phone chimed. I quickly finished up my page and put in my bookmark.
Toby
I smiled and opened the message
Tobs <3

He answered the call and quickly listened to me read outlaid to him. I knew it helped him fall asleep, so anytime he called me to get to sleep I always read to him. It was a quick process for him to fall asleep after I started.
Once I heard his evened out breathing, I smiled to myself and continued reading in my head.

"Care?" Toby's sleepy voice projected through the phone's small speakers. My attention immediately switched focus from my book to him when I realized he was awake. I've reread this book enough times to know exactly what it said and what was to come next anyway.
"Why are you awake? It's five in the morning for you." I asked, voice a hushed whisper as to not wake anyone. I had school in the morning and was definitely not supposed to be awake right now. The hour had just bypassed midnight and I seriously had to be up in like, four hours for school. I didn't even notice until he spoke up.
"I had a rather frightening nightmare." The boy whispered, almost as if he were embarrassed. I furrowed my eyebrows in concern and cocked my head to the side with curiosity. I slipped my bookmark into place and closed it gently. I set it on my bedside table as I picked up my phone, laying on my side. I lifted the hood on the hoodie that distinctly smelled like him.
"Wanna talk about it?" I asked, desperately wanting to hug him and calm him down by playing with his hair. he always liked it when he fell asleep with his head in my lap. I knew it was just a calming effect for him.
"Not really, but could you talk to me about your book? Your voice seems to relax me." he asked me. I agreed with a hum and smiled. I turned off my light and got comfortable in my bed before explaining the book I was reading.
He's heard me explain more about the Harry Potter books in the last few months than he probably has in his life. Especially since he's not watched the movies in ages.
We both fell asleep and If my sister had to come in and wake me up for school the next morning, he didn't have to know.
