Just A Kiss - Lady Antebellum
Tubbo's POV
A few weeks have passed. Caroline has been here for a month now and I feel like every time I'm with her time just erases. We're just us forever and nothing else in the world matters anymore. Everything we do feels like a high I'll never come down from.
She's home.
Here I was though, freaking the absolute fuck out because we're going on a date. Every date we've been on thus far has never made me this nervous. There's never been any expectations between us. No standards, no pressure, no secrets. We've been us and open and honest.
Maybe that's why I'm nervous, because I know she won't lie to me or give me an answer I want just because it's what I want to hear.
We were going to dinner and then to the beach. It would be just us, nobody else.
"Toby! You're gonna be late dude!" Tommy yelled, running into the room we've been crashing in. He smiled seeing my appearance as I ran a hand through my hair nervously. "You look great, Tobs, stop overthinking it."
"I'm just nervous." I said, shaking my arms to try and relieve the anxiety. I took a deep breath and straightened out my shirt in the mirror. I could only imagine how calm Caroline was right now. Probably very calm.
"Just go down there and stop freaking, Toby." Tom laughed, grabbing my arm and pulling me out of the room. He closed the door and we walked down the stairs. I slipped on my shoes and took another deep breath.
"Lookin good, Toby!" Will said, clapping me on the back.
"Yeah, Toby!" Jack said, nudging me softly.
"Kai wanted to say hi to the gang!" Izzy yelled, running down the hallway from her room. We all waved to Kai on the phone before Izzy ran away. "That's Jack of whom is the only one you haven't met at all before."
"So, did Toby look okay?" I heard Izzy ask before the door closed and the conversation was unheard. I laughed to myself as did almost everyone else.
"Are you ready to go?" Caroline asked, walking down the hallway. She was wearing a blue dress with small white flowers on it. She looked absolutely stunning in it.
"Yeah." I said with a smile. I helped her put her shoes on before we were out the door. All my nerves seemed to flee the moment she walked out because I felt just like I always did when we were alone.
We both went to dinner but the service was a bust. We waited a while for food that was cold when it was brought out. Our server was at our table a total of three times. I still tipped well, but it definitely wasn't deserved.
"Well, that was a bust." Caroline said with a small laugh. We walked down the street hand in hand, the sun going down leaving an orange hue over everything.
"Definitely not how I wanted that to go." I laughed back.
"It's okay, we still have the boardwalk and the rock beach." She said. She smiled up at me and I smiled back. We didn't talk much, there wasn't really a need to. We both enjoyed the comfortable silence we had. There was no pressure between us and I liked it. I liked her.
Once the sun was down and we got tired of walking, we sat on the beach just staring at the moon on the ocean. The stars barely reflected, but the moon left strands of white against the small waves that carried out further and further. It was a beautiful sight.
"I like you." I whispered, laying my head on her shoulder.
"I like you too." She said with a small laugh.
"Good, good." I said, my nerves hitting me full force.
Guess they didn't really flee.
"Toby, may I kiss you?" She asked, grabbing my hand and turning her head towards me. "Have the feeling you're too nervous to ask and someone once told me I should live in the moment."
"Yeah, yeah I like that idea." I smiled at her. I lifted my head and she closed the gap quickly. It was quick, a small kiss of affection, but it was enough.
"So are we girlfriends or what? fuck, i mean boyfriends. fucking hell! i mean boyfriend and girlfriend." I stuttered out after a wave of silence passed. I cursed myself for being so stupid after that moment.
"Yeah, Toby. We're boyfriend and girlfriend." She laughed, throwing an arm around my shoulder and hugging me. I leaned into her embrace, savoring the feeling of happiness.
I just had a feeling it wouldn't linger as long as I'd like it too.
"We should head back, Toby, cmon." She said, standing up and extending a hand. I grabbed it and we walked back to the flat nudging each other and laughing the entire way. We walked inside and I helped support her as she slipped off her shoes. I slipped mine off and walked her to Izzy's door.
"This is the best I can do with the formality of kissing a girl at her doorstep." I joked, leaning down and kissing her forehead gently. "See you in the morning, Care."
She smiled and walked into the bedroom. I walked towards the stairs and up to the bedroom me, Jack, and Tom were currently sharing. They were both sitting on the bed looking at tiktoks. Once they heard the door close, they threw their phones and looked at me expectantly.
"Yeah, I got a girlfriend." I bragged, slipping off my flannel.
"Yeah, Tobs! I'm so happy for you!" Tommy was the first to yell in excitement. He ran over and hugged me tightly. I hugged back with a laugh.
"Who knew Toby could get bitches!" Jack yelled, smiling at us.
"Caroline is not a bitch." I said with a laugh.
"You get the idea." He laughed back. "I'm happy for you, kid."
"Yeah, yeah me too." I said, sitting on the bed with them.
