State Lines - Novo Amor
I really didn't want to leave. I really fucking hate this part. I thought I hated packing the most, but I didn't really think beyond that. I didn't think about the leaving aspect. The getting on the plane and going back to my life in Kansas City, away from the life I've lived here. Away from my best friend and her friends who became my friends and my boyfriend.
"Don't cry." Will said, hugging me softly. I tried to keep my tears at bay, but after he said that I couldn't. The tears streamed as sobs wracked my body. He let me go and wiped them from my face. "You're always welcome back, darling. Never forget that."
"My turn!" Tommy yelled, bringing a smile to my face. He hugged me tightly, lifting me off the ground some with the amount of force. "Come back, okay? I'll miss you." He whispered in my ear. I nodded, hugging him back tightly. As annoying as he's been, he's become one of my favorite people to be around. He pulled back and sighed, patting my head before walking to Ranboo.
"I really don't want you to go." Izzy said softly, looking at me with tears in her eyes.
"Goodbyes are always the hardest part, but it makes the hello's that much more meaningful." I said with a watery laugh. She nodded, bringing me into a hug. I'm not sure how long this one lasted, but I know it was the longest thus far.
"Don't forget about me in the mass amounts of fun you're bound to have." I sobbed.
"I'll be down for your prom, okay? Me and Asterin will be there and we'll have so much fun. Like we planned years ago." She sobbed into me. I nodded, gripping her tightly before we both pulled back. She walked to Will and he hugged her tightly.
God I don't wanna do this one.
"Care." Toby said softly. His eyes were sad, but he held a soft smile that lit me up inside.
"Tobs." I said back, keeping the same tone.
"This isn't goodbye, love, it's a see you later. It won't be that long. I have millions I need to spend." He laughed, taking his hand in mine. He spun me around softly, bringing a small laugh from me. He pulled me in by my hand and hugged me tightly.
"Nothing is going to change right?" I asked, pushing my head into the crook of his neck.
"Nothing at all will change, darling. I can promise you that." He whispered, rubbing a hand up and down my back. "I'll see you soon, okay?"
"Okay." I whispered. We held one another a few seconds longer before stepping back. He wiped the tears from my face and held it gently in his hands. He pressed a kiss to my forehead before stepping back completely.
"Let me know when you land, love." I nodded in response and watched him walk to Tommy. They all exited with waves. Ranboo stood next to me, waving them off.
"You ready for this?" He asked quietly. He was going back to Missouri with me and I was excited to have another friend with me before I started senior year alone. I'll have to retake my senior photos, but I really don't care. I had the time of my fucking life here.
"As I'll ever be." I replied. We both took a deep breath before going through security and waiting for our plane. We talked about Asterin the entire plane ride. I got to see just. how much fun they had together through pictures and videos but also how much he adores her. How much he loves her.
We got off the plane and walked to the entrance. I saw my family and yeah, leaving hurt, but being home felt good too. Jackson was the first to run up to me. He texted me literally everyday telling me to come home because he missed me.
"Caroline!" He yelled, jumping at me. I laughed and hugged him back. "You're home!"
"I'm home." I laughed. Emily ran up to me and hugged me as soon as Jackson let go.
"Can you teach me how to do makeup when we get home?" Emily asked me, excited as hell to see me.
"No problem!" I said with a smile.
"Any boys give you problems?" Zach asked, ruffling my hair as soon as I was in reach.
"No, but I have a boyfriend you can threaten." I laughed. "Also, this is Xavier. He's apart of the big friend group and he didn't wanna go back to California yet so he came back here."
"Does he need a place to stay?" My mom asked, hugging me as soon as she could. My dad did the same.
"No, I texted his sister from his phone so she's already at a hotel room near the house." I said with a smile. Ranboo looked at me and smiled. He mouthed a thank you before his face lit up.
"Andrea!" He yelled. He looked happy and I was happy for him.
"You have to tell me everything!" Emily said, gripping onto me as we walked to the car. I nodded but wiggled out of her grip to run to Ranboo. I hugged him tightly. I knew I'd be seeing him within the week, but I knew he needed it.
"What's this for?' He asked, hugging me back despite the height difference.
"For loving my best friend unconditionally." I whispered. I pulled back and smiled, wiping the tears from my eyes as I ran back to Emily. I told them everything int he car and Emily was scrolling through the pictures on my phone.
I couldn't have asked for a better summer.
