Amia's POV
Wanna know what happened, huh? Well after we got knocked out, we woke up what we guessed was a couple hours later each in the hospital. That girl that we saw walk into the dean's office apparently decided to stick around and heard all the commotion. She got worried, called 9-11 and and they got there just in time.
Over the course of the next few days, we were spoonfed information. Each of those psychos were arrested and charged with either murder or assisted murder. Her father was charged with murder and assisted murder. The day before he left for the uni, he murdered his wife.
Her father was tried under American law because his murder was commited on American soil. The psychos are to be charged under British law.
Then of course came the inevitable question: what happened to Marki? They told us as they couldn't keep it a secret anyways. We cried together for hours. She never would have wanted all this.
All she wanted was to come to college and make some friends. Instead, she received emotional trauma and death. Why, dammit, why? Why do horrible things always happen to good people?
A few days after that was the funeral. Since she had no family to arrange it, the funeral company did it. They invited distant family and friends and had it in a beautiful field.
It was a sunny day. Not rainy, like funerals are in the movies, but a perfect day. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining and it felt great. It was almost like the world was trying to lighten up her death. How dare it!
Try to hide her death under golden Sun rays and wet dew on green grass! No! Cry! Rain! Feel pity, universe! It wasn't fair.
When we showed up we just thought we were early, as we were the only ones there. And we did come early, dressed in all black with our flowers. But as time passed, no one else came.
Then it hit us, she had no friends. She wasn't allowed to. None of her family showed up either. No one to grieve for her when she was gone. Well we weren't going to let that happen. We sat in our seats and listened to the preacher.
When it came time, we each went up to the podium and gave our speaches. We didn't know much about her life, but we did talk about what we knew of her. How she acted with such passion and about her spirit. How it wouldn't be tamed just because she passed on to another world.
We left that day and I finally understood. She didn't die. Sure her body did, but not her soul. She would live on in the stories we told our children and the tales they would tell our grandchildren.
She will always be with us.
