Chapter 18~ What the actual Hell?

I knew the demons were tearing at my flesh, but I couldn't feel it. I couldn't feel anything! I should've been feeling immense pain! I couldn't think! Not with the millions of lost souls screaming in my ears.

To my left, I could also hear Alfred's screams. Clear as day to pick out because it was the only one that sounded real. He was also saying something though. A name.

Arthur. In his last moments, he was calling out for his love. Tragic if you ask me.

The screams started to die down and I knew it was almost over. We would stop floating and drop straight down into the court of Hell. There we would stand before a jury of grand demons and they would decide whether or not we lived worthy enough lives to go to Elysium. If not, we would be sent to the fields of punishment were our souls would wonder for eternity, eventually going mad. Dad told me all about it.

The screams stopped. It was over. Just a second and... DROP.

I covered my mouth to keep from screaming out loud, but Alfred screamed as loudly as pleased. I really hoped he would go to Elysium. I would try my best to make sure he got there.

Then, thud. We landed on the hard wood floor of The Court of Hell. We should have died and it should have hurt a lot, but we were already dead, so we felt nothing.

I looked around me to see 9 grand demons sitting in black leather chairs in a circle. There were 3 men, 3 women, and 3 non-binary demons. They looked like normal people, except they had black eyes. They wore all black and black capes.

Alfred stood up, visibly shaking and panting heavily. I didn't want to seem rude because it was his first time in Hell, unlike me, but he needed to carry himself better in front of the court. They were Judging his life!

"Alfred. I know it's a lot, but you have to compose yourself. Look," I pointed to the grand demons. "They're going to judge your life. You gotta look worthy of going to Elysium."

"Got it, sorry." He said. He gave a small smile and I could see he was slowly gaining his confidence back.

"Name yourselves." The grand demons said in unison.

"Alfred Jones and Marki Delior." I replied.

"You traded your souls for the lives of two others, correct?" One of the female demons asked.

"Yes." I replied.

"Their names?"

"Matthew Williams and Gilbert Bielshmidt." Alfred answered.

"Okay. Miss Delior, you have a history of domestic violence from your father. When you left for college, you had intentions of getting your mother out of that home. You seem to have had good intentions all around." One of the male demons said.

"She murdered Matthew Williams." One if the other male demons said.

"She had to. Those psychos made her! Plus she's here just to make up for it!" A non-binary demon said.

"Thats true. I guess it does balance out." A female demon added.

"Onto Mr. Jones. You have lived a full life full of helping people and changing lives for the better. You've spent the past few years helping people who get captured by the university, thus possibly saving multiple lives."

"I say he's a good one." One of them said.

"Agreed. I think they deserve some rest. Everyone ready?"

"Elysium." They sentenced. They all picked up their gavels and pounded them on their tables with perfect timing.

I started to disintegrate. Looking to Alfred, he was disappearing as well. I knew in the next few seconds we would be reappearing in Elysium. I've never been there before and I have no idea what it'll look like.

I was tiny little particles in the air, whizzing through dementions. Like that I stayed for a few minutes until I could finally feel myself being put back together again.

I lied on a cold, hard floor. I was unable to open my eyes as I was just getting my thoughts together. I couldn't hear anything either, which was helpful.

Then my senses came back, though I decided not to open my eyes just yet. I heard something.

"Poppet?"
