Chapter 3

Lunch break, the semi-free roaming ground for almost all students to do whatever they please; aside from the few troublemakers that get sent to the student council room. Cher was a part of this cookie-cutter troublemaker trope yet somehow she had escaped James' rule-enforcing wrath on this particular day.

She had been aimlessly walking around the first floor for a few minutes now, looking for anyone she knew. Friend or foe? It didn't matter, as long as she could annoy the living daylights out of someone.

Cher was the type of person to mess with anybody she crossed paths with, though, she would never go as far as to pain them in any way. Even if she had never crossed the line when annoying people she'd still manage to amass a horde of people who got irritated with just the thought of her.

Turning into a completely new walkway for the sixth time now she finally realized something

'This floor has way too many corridors! I think I've been going in circles for a hundred turns!'

In that walkway alone there were three different turns you could take, truly a maze for even the educators. One could only pity the few transfer students that had to walk these halls.

Cher had to take a gander for a few seconds before recalling that a few days earlier she'd been mercilessly chased down these halls. In fact as she looked forward she saw a dint in the exact same wall she'd smashed head first into.

Though she made light of the situation at the time she had in fact hurt herself to the point that her nose had broken. She currently wore nose cast filled with colorful and messy squiggles.

Cher couldn't help but to examine the piece of property she'd most likely be punished for disfiguring once the school found out.

'It's the faulty walls fault!'

After staring at the dint for way longer than she should have, she turned her head to glare at the true cause.

'That stupid stairwell!'

When Cher turned her head she didn't think she'd see that exact same girl sitting on the exact same step looking down at a soggy sandwich in her hands with disgust. Yet that's exactly what she saw.

'That sandwich, why does it look like it's melting?'

The girl hadn't noticed Cher walking up to her and sitting next to her, both of them staring at that depressing sandwich. Peeking over the girl's shoulder, Cher finally spoke loudly with no regard for the other persons hearing.

""What'cha got there?""

The girl made a small yelping noise as she jumped in her 'seat'. The girl's swift movement caused Cher to lean backwards, fearing she'd be hit in the chin.

""Hey careful! One injury was enough!""

Although Cher was trying to lecture the girl, humor still seeped out of her mouth. This strange girl, that she had only just met, had already made Cher overwhelmingly amused with just a yelp.

The girl seemed to have calmed down after evaluating the situation but her fingertips still shook, looking as if they were trying to scratch the air.

""Sorry for scaring you. Uh~ Hey! What's your name?""

Cher displayed such an playful smile toward the girl, while attempting to smooth over the remaining fear stuck in her fingertips.

Surprisingly Cher's almost dumb looking smile worked! The girl had stopped shaking, placed that now unrecognizable clump of her sandwich into a container, and pulled out a small notebook. The cover of the tiny book read out her name: 'If found please return to: Caddie Soe'

"Ok then! Caddie, why is that sandwich so...so...um..wet."

Both girls turned in perfect sync to the container holding that somewhat ominous clump of something that can't even be called a sandwich anymore. Both then quickly turning away, afraid staring at it for too long would put a curse on them.

Caddie reached into the bag that she had just previously pulled out her notebook from. She pulled out a pen, then proceeded to open up her notebook and start writing on a blank page.

Cher had never seen anybody who could write as fast and as neatly at the same time as this girl, truly an impressive feat. Caddie seemed to stop to reread what she had written before passing the notebook to Cher.

"My water bottle broke while I was drinking it and my sandwich happened to be in the splash zone."

Cher passed the notebook back to Caddie feeling a little sorry for her. This feeling only increased when she observed the girl a bit more.

'It seems not only was your sandwich in the splash zone but you were as well. You look like a tired parent at a waterpark.'

Caddie's skirt had been soaked though her shirt was only partially drenched barely becoming see-through.

More evidence of this disaster was an empty water bottle discarded next to the container.

""Caddie could you wait here for a moment?""

Caddie nodded, confused at what this strange girl who hadn't even told her her name was running off to do.
