Chapter 9

Cher's concern was interrupted by a few heavy footsteps, sounding as if they were jogging towards her.

""Hey!...oh...uh...ew""

She turned around to see Jay.

""Jay-Jay? I thought you went home? Why are you getting exercise at this time, you should be gaining weight with how skinny you look!""

Jay responded half-heartedly, clearly only worried about his sister.

""I did head home. After thinking about it for a bit I thought I should probably help bring Caddie back too, since she didn't look too well.""

Cher left that conversation with an 'oh' before turning towards Caddie.

Jay was quiet for a second before he approached Caddie, turned his back to her and bent down.

""I'll carry you, just... try not to throw up on me.""

Caddie flopped onto his back, exhausted both in mind and body.

Jay nodded towards Cher, whispering a goodbye before jogging off with Caddie hanging weakly on his back.

Cher walked back home shirtless and cold, smelling like scones and lingering puke. Yet she smiled, waddling in the cold rubbing her shoulders.

...

The next day at school Cher couldn't find Caddie on those stairs, neither floating aimlessly.

She walked between her next class and that staircase, absentmindedly watching out to see if anybody she knew would pop out. Surprisingly, she did see someone she knew.

James was walking around seeming to be looking for something. It was immediately made clear what James was looking for once they locked eyes. Cher turned around, pretending as if she was someone else. This didn't work as she felt James grab her arm with no regard for if she hurt her or not.

James pulled her into the student councilor's office saying only a few words to her in a heavy sigh before leaving.

""The student council supervisor wants to have a chat with you.""

Directly in front of Cher sat a middle-aged man with a bedhead, sprawled out on his chair while eating from a convenience store bag, his desk a mess of documents. A name plate, covered in silver sparkles read out.

"Student Councilor: Mr. Liam Soe"

The educator swallowed down the last bit of food left in his mouth, finally speaking.

""Hello Cher, I've been hearing about you a lot recently.""

'What type of deep posh accent is that! It's like you just leaned next to me and whispered into my ear! What are you 35? 38?, gross!'

""I've heard from some of the recent student council misbehavior reports that you've been disrupting your classes and even skipping them. This is unacceptable behavior, especially for someone your age. I am deeply disappointed in you, Cher.""

Cher stared at him waiting for the man to continue. He however did not and instead grabbed a handful of salad out of the bag and shoved it in his mouth, chewing slowly with his mouth slightly open.

'Where? What? Why?'

""Yes, I apologise for doing that and I will never do it again!""

Holding back the urge to gag at the bag salad, she desperately wanted to get out of this room and away from this strange man.

The man then pulled out a thin folder from a messy stack on the corner of his desk. Opening it slowly, still munching on the bag salad.

""I see here you have two younger sisters and both parents, must be a very full house.""

The man smiled faintly at the folder, it then quickly fell to a frown again.

""So there is no problems at home?""

Cher responded quickly, wanting to sprint out of that room.

""No Mr, No problems!""

After a few more back and forth words Cher was finally dismissed.

'Another strange character to add to the list.'
