Chapter 7
Gasping for breath, rolling down her seat, curling into a ball, tears streaming down her face.
""MERCILESS MONSTERS!! HELP ME!! OW HA AH""
Caddie finally started to take pity on the whining girl. Leaning over the table to try to at least pull her back up into her seat. A hand suddenly stopped her.
""No no, let her suffer.""
""She'll be better in a second.""
A chuckle could be heard in Lee's words however that second sentence sounded much more monotone. In fact, that voice didn't sound like Lee's voice at all.
Tracing the hand that had blocked her, she saw Lee, but that hand wasn't his hand. Tracing up the arm some more, her head started to rise higher and higher. Behind Lee stood her brother, Jay. Somewhat bending forward staring at the girl in hysterics, sight concern mixed with disgust lingered on his face. He had a pager in his hand.
'Why are you here! And with this bipolar mouse, who just a few days ago, was scolding you for... who knows what!'
Lee turned his head so that he could just see Jay in the corner of his eye before asking casually.
""Did you get the right one?""
""Yeah, caramel.""
A simple and efficient way of exchanging information.
'Vague! Please explain why my brother is now acting as if you're friends! You two were at each others throats just a few days ago, I saw it with my own two eyes! Jay, blink twice if you've been taken hostage!'
The buzz of a pager disrupted Caddie's thoughts. Cher wiped the tears from her face before grabbing the pager and wobbling over to the counter. Lee thought this was the best time to relax his legs, sitting directly where Cher was previously rolling around only a few seconds ago.
He scooted deeper into the crevice of the long seat so that his sleeve was just brushing against the wall. Jay followed sitting next to him before greeting his sister with a half-hearted smile, taking out his phone and placing the pager on the table simultaneously.
Lee looked to be in a very absent minded state, daydreaming of nameless air.
""Why are you both sitting in my seat!""
Cher had rushed back balancing 4 boxes full of scones and a small box containing what was supposed to be the whole cheesecake.
""Have you looked around? There isn't a single table left! Weren't you told to be nice to your friends?""
Lee's retort could not be considered invalid, all the tables were indeed taken.
""Well if you're going to be sitting here you better be of some use.""
She then slammed two boxes of scones in front of Lee and Jay. Catching Jay off-guard making him hastily look up to see what was happening around him, placing his phone back into his pocket.
""Eat up my dear friends.""
Cher placed one of the remaining boxes and the cheesecake box in front of Caddie, sitting next to her and claiming the last box.
Silence appeared to be following around everywhere Cher went as again it loomed over them. Like a storm cloud directly overhead as they ate.
""Hey...um, have you guys even introduced each other yet?""
The irony of that statement.
""Oh, sorry! I'm Lee. I've think I've seen you around the student council room once or twice.""
He showed an unexpectedly childlike smile while he greeted her, this completely contrasted his strict and domineering demeanor she witnessed in the student council room. Lee had a terrible first impression.
'Once it was just once!'
Caddie pulled out her notebook steadily writing her response.
"I'm Caddie Soe. Yes, I was in the student council room not too long ago."
Lee scanned her words a few times before looking her up and down.
""Are you related to Jay? You look alike.""
His words seemed to quiver as they came out of his mouth. However this strange movement was immediately stopped by Jay seemingly knowing what the other was thinking.
""Hey hey, don't let your mind wander into weird places. My last name is not the product of an affair! ""
'....What!'
Jay wasn't the best with his words but he seemed to get his point across quite clearly without needing to explain anymore.
Author's Note:
<I rampaged and decided to write this chapter in one go. It's a bit shorter than usual because I have to keep halving my drafts! (o′┏▽┓`o)>
Lee - "Why're you always on your phone?"
Jay - ....."Secret."
