Chapter 5 - The Midnight Party

Everyone who has known Joey seems to be going to this party. Joey is just that popular. He's always been this way since pre-school. That one guy who's high energy, also known as the "class clown" but was often friendly with everyone. He was just as perfect as Atem.

At 7pm, Atem has an exciting feeling for this. He's been to a lot of parties in the past but somehow this one feels more angsty. He slipped on a black collar shirt with a belt around his neck. He also slipped dark jeans.

Yugi was nervous because this was his first party he'd ever been to. Let alone a social gathering. Only social gatherings he'd ever went to were family reunions. He slipped on a simple shirt with navy blue jeans. For the final touch, he wrapped a belt around his waist.

~8pm~

Afterwards, everyone was there quite early. Rap music blaring to the point your ears are vibrating, strobe lights, food, all pretty big for a such small dorm. But everyone else seemed to enjoy it and have a good time.

Yugi knocked on the door, nervously sweating. When Joey opened the door. "Welcome!" He let Yugi in freely. He didn't even know him. But let him anyways. Yugi was questioned by it but shook it off.

"Hey, Yugi!" A voice called out to him. He turned and saw Atem making his way towards him.

"How goes it?" He winked.

"Um..." He mumbled.

"What? Can't hear you over the music!" Atem shouted pointed towards his ear. A few people bumped into them when they were talking.

"I'm-"

"Hey! Atem! And Yugi..." Téa waved coming towards both of the boys.

"Ugh." Atem groaned.

"Hey~! You guys having fun? This party is awesome!" She giggled as she danced.

"Yeah, it'd be better if you'd march back towards your friends!" Atem sassed her. And so, Téa did. A little later, more people started to crowd them. Which made Yugi have an mini anxiety attack given how many people were close to him.

He took a step back to take a breath and stood in the corner. Atem followed him.

"Hey! Come dance!" He smiled grabbing Yugi's hand. Yugi was unsure but joined anyways. The song turned from unbearable rap music to more of a settle pop song. The boys started to dance and soon everyone joined. Yugi felt a bit embarrassed since he wasn't used to dancing. In front of people, at least.

"You're pretty good at dancing." Atem complimented. Yugi's cheeks flushed a little, since he wasn't used to compliments. At all.

"T-Thanks!"

~Later~

Yugi later then thought this might be the perfect night of his life. People actually wanted to talk to him, and they finally started playing good music. He also saw some kids who snuck in playing a card game called "Duel Monsters" but just ignored them and kept dancing the night away.

He came up to Atem and was all giggly and smily. Atem however, has never seen this side of before. He was a bit fascinated.

"You seem to be having fun."

"Haha! Yeah!" He grinned, still dancing.  Atem stared as he watched Yugi move with an blank expression. Yugi snapped out of his happy phase and glared at Atem.

"E-Everything okay?" He stopped dancing with a worried expression.

"Yeah... You just, look really happy. I'm glad." Atem smiled. Yugi looked down.

"I'm not used to it, believe me."

"Oh? Y-"

"EVERYONE STOP!" A voice called out. Everyone else immediately stopped and even the music stopped.

"JUST STAY CALM!" They kept continuing. When everyone looked over, it was some random guy in black.

"Erm... what's the big deal?" Joey asked. The man stared at him in a very creepy matter...

"We heard your dad lives here." They grinned.

"Who's 'we'? And my dad doesn't live here anymo-"

"Oh, please! Don't give me that bullshit! Where is he?!" They screamed.

"I don't know what you're talking about..." Joey awkwardly chuckled.

"Your little 'daddy' owns us money!"

"Okay but who's us-"

"Shut up! Where is he? TELL ME RIGHT NOW OR I'M FUCKING SHOOTING EVERYONE HERE!" They screeched on the top of their lungs. Everyone quickly panicked and shrieked.

"Hey man, I don't think-" Before Joey could even finish his sentence, the guy pulled out a gun and shot him. Making a Blam! sound. Blood poured from Joey quickly. The screaming began.

"What the hell?!" A guy shouted. The man in black turned towards him and shot him as-well.

"I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU."

Atem's eyes widened in panic and quickly grabbed Yugi to shield Yugi from the man in black. Yugi began to tremble and shake in panic. He's always had panic attacks, but not this major. He felt his throat tighten and the room began to spin.

"Everyone! Run!" A girl shrieked. Yugi then began to feel woozy and voices echoed while they screamed. Atem picked up Yugi since he was unable to move and ran quickly to the door.

Atem apparently didn't move quickly enough.
