The day after our gig at the Coffee Club, I told France that I would go over to his house for dinner; his mom wanted to see me.
I was so happy—the gig was successful. All over social media, people were tagging Noah, Ale, and me in pictures and videos of our band performance last night. We were ecstatic, so much so that Ale and I wanted to go on a date. We didn't know where to go, but we would sort it out when he came to pick me up.
I decided to take a shower, then get ready for my day out with Alejandro. First, I needed to see my dad. He was in his study, doing some work. I was still suspicious of him, but I didn't have time for an investigation.
When I knocked on the door to my dad's office, he replied with a soft, "Come in." I entered his office/study, looking around the place. I had never been in here; it was painted grey with a portrait of me hanging above his large desk. A picture of my mom and me sat on his desk right beside his stack of papers. He was typing something on his computer when he looked up at me and lifted the corner of his lips in a barely-there smile. "What do you need, honey?" he asked, looking back down at his work, seemingly leaving one ear open to listen to what I had to say.
"Dad, I'm going out today, and when I come back, I'm having dinner with our neighbors."
"Okay, have fun, Tiara. I've been wondering why you haven't driven your car since I bought it for you?" he looked up at me when saying that last part.
"That's because I'm still unsure where you're getting all the money from to pay for this lavish lifestyle."
"My dear, I work for a very influential company in the agricultural industry, and I get a hefty salary every two weeks. Plus, I'm on the verge of a promotion. I saw that my daughter was in need of a car, so I bought her one. Simple," he said sternly. "And instead of being so ungrateful, you should be thanking me for making our lives better."
"Okay, Dad, thank you."
"Have fun," he said, getting back to work.
I walked out of his office, slightly feeling bad for questioning my dad's source of finance.
I ran to my room to get ready for the arrival of my boyfriend. Everything still felt weird—the fact that I was locally famous, gaining hundreds of views on YouTube and TikTok, the fact that I had a handsome boyfriend, such wonderful friends, and all in all, a beautiful life.
I decided to listen to my dad. I would be the one to drive Ale and me wherever we went today.
I went upstairs to my bedroom to take a quick shower, as Ale would be here in thirty minutes.
After my quick shower, I didn't know what to wear. My closet was an endless array of clothes. I was going for something casual and cute. I chose a pink shorts suit, consisting of pink shorts, a white blouse, and a pink leather jacket. I paired it with pink and white Converse. Cute and casual, just right for a celebration. I only wore nude lip gloss today and let my hair down.
Soon enough, I heard my doorbell ring. It was Ale. I greeted him with a kiss, to which he gladly returned. Smiling, I pulled away from him.
"You ready to go?" he asked me.
"Yeah, but I want you to hear a song I wrote. Maybe I can sing it for you, and you give me your opinion?"
"Yeah, okay, baby girl."
I gestured for him to follow me to my piano. I wrote a new song; I don't necessarily know how or who I wrote it for, but it poured out of me while I was thinking about everything I'd been through last night.
As I sat on the piano seat and Ale sat beside me, I took up my song journal from its resting place. I opened it to the latest page, to the song "Feelings."
