It has been three weeks since my dad gave me the ultimatum. My dad and I have been on rocky terms, but he hasn't budged about the not being with Alejandro thing.

Speaking of him, I guess you could say I've been distant. The only time we hang out is when we're playing at the coffee club or when we're practicing for the homecoming dance.

Currently, we're practicing for the dance that's in one week. We are doing the songs: "Feelings," "Camouflage," and "The Fire Within Me." The last one is a new song, I wrote it last week. It is so upbeat and inspirational.

"Let's take it from the top... we'll do 'The Fire Within Me.'" I told the boys.

The Fire Within

Verse 1
The fire within me
It consumes me
It makes me feel alive
The fire, it burns me
It frees me
It shapes who I am inside

Chorus
The fire within, the fire within, the fire within
Ouuuu ohhhh
It fuels me
It makes me uncontrollable

Verse 2
I can't change, I can't wait for more
It won't kill, but it will...
Burn you alive, tonight... tonight it's a fight...
To stay alive, my flame, it burns through the night
Me and you, you and I
Every day, it's a struggle, but I won't cry...

Chorus
The fire within, the fire within, the fire within
Ouuuu ohhhh
It fuels me
It makes me uncontrollable

Bridge
Baby, it burns
Maybe I yearn
Maybe I'll learn
That the fire within
It consumes me
It makes me feel alive

Verse 3
The blaze ignites me
It lights the way
Revealing who I am inside
The fire within, the fire within, the fire within

Chorus
The fire within, the fire within, the fire within
Ouuuu ohhhh
It fuels me
It makes me uncontrollable

"Okay guys, let's take five," I told them.

Alejandro walked up to me and hugged me from the side. I barely reciprocated.

"What's wrong with us?" he asked. But the problem is, I didn't know what to say.

I just fake-smiled, not wanting to deal with relationship drama right now. "We're okay," I said, pecking him on the cheek. He seemed weary but shrugged his shoulders, dropping the topic for the moment.

I walked away from him and approached Noah. When I walked up to him, he was typing swiftly on his phone, eyes twinkling with mischief and a big lopsided grin on his face. I peeked over his shoulder and saw Dom's messages.

I cleared my throat, not wanting to snoop and see something I'd regret.

He glanced up at me, barely acknowledging my presence. "NOAH WILDE!" I boomed, vouching for his attention.

"Jesus, woman. You trying to deafen me?" he asked playfully.

"Yes, but as my newly appointed boy bestie... I need—"

"What's a boy bestie?" he asked, seemingly clueless.

I rolled my eyes at his obliviousness. "That's a boy-friend that a girl has. Hyphen between boy and friend. He's just a guy who is a girl's bestie." I barely knew what to say. I hoped he understood.

"I'm going to pretend I know what you're talking about. You were saying you needed something." As he said that, he glanced at his phone anxiously. Okay then.

"I need you to sing the bridge of 'The Fire Within Me.'"

"Why?" he asked, still checking his phone.

"Because my voice is a little scratchy." It is, but I'm going to get some honey to make it better. I just need fewer solos.
