After Ale and I went back to my house, I didn't bother inviting him in. He just took his car and went home. Because I wasn't feeling up to it, I canceled dinner with France and his mom.
My dad brought down the bad mood. He was acting so weird. And I needed answers. I barged into his office without knocking.
"What is the meaning of this?" he asked in a stern voice.
I was frozen. I didn't know what to say, and suddenly all of my confidence wore off.
"I-I don't like the way you've been treating me... you've kept me out of all decisions. You are a horrible parent. And I need to know why we are rich."
"You are a child. And as such, you should be kept out of adult matters."
"I am SEVENTEEN years old. Stop treating me like I'm seven," I argued back. He had no right to keep me out of everything.
"You ungrateful child. I get you into the best school. I buy you anything you want. I have your college money in a trust fund for when you graduate, and you dare question me on where I get all the money from? Little girl, I'm a hardworking agriculturist for a big shot company. I make thousands every two weeks and I want to live differently for a change. Stop arguing with me or you're grounded for a month."
"You can't ground me. I'm not a child," I retorted.
"Yes, you are, and as such, you are not allowed to have a boyfriend or I will cut you off from your credit card," he said with fire in his eyes.
I was burnt.
"I'm not breaking up with him," I said, stubbornness oozing from my figure.
"Well, you're broke. But I'm gonna give you one month to leave him. If you don't, you'll lose me and your college and your money and EVERYTHING I provide you with."
"Why am I not allowed to have a boyfriend?" The look in his eyes changed. It seemed he wasn't ready for that question.
"Because I am your father and I say so," he said hesitantly.
"Pathetic," I said, then walked out of his office.
I am so freaking confused. I'm going to lose everything. But was Alejandro worth it? That's the question that's been circling my mind.
He didn't behave like this when I was hanging with France.
He wasn't like this when we just got here. Now he's vile and cold. I didn't like it. And I know I told France I wouldn't come over for dinner, but I didn't wanna be here.
I made my way to the mansion beside my own. I knocked on the door, and what I saw next made me gasp. It was Zion, the girl that France was hanging out with. I shouldn't be surprised. "Hello... Tiara, was it?" she asked way too nicely.
"Yeah, hi," I replied, not knowing what else to say.
"What did you need?" she asked, twirling her hair with her finger.
"Nothing, I'll come back later."
She nodded, then slammed the door in my face. I had a feeling she didn't like me.
I didn't know what to do now. Maybe I should do some me time. I should clear my thoughts and figure out what to do about me. My dad gave me a heavy ultimatum. It was my future or Alejandro.
I hopped in my car, not knowing where to go. Then my thoughts wandered. I know why my dad gave me the whole month. Something is going on and I am going to get to the bottom of it. In a month, it will be the homecoming dance, and the fate of my relationship would end that night. I couldn't give up Julliard for a boy.
