"What did you hear?" He asked me again.
"Nothing," I scoffed, pulling my hand from his grasp.
I ran down their staircase and toward his mom to help her set the table or something.
We ate dinner in silence. France and I had an unspoken agreement that we wouldn't talk about the conversation I may or may not have heard.
I went home after dinner, not knowing what to think about the whole situation. My boyfriend was FaceTiming me, but I did not answer, knowing what the fate of our relationship was. I had to break up with him. But I didn't know when or how. I only had a week left. It had to be sooner rather than later.
I couldn't fall asleep with my thoughts swirling, whether it was thoughts about France or Alejandro. I was thinking about the band or the dance.
Insomnia plagued me until around five in the morning. I fell asleep knowing I had to wake up in the next two hours for school.
. . .
I woke up to a horn blaring outside my house. Oh shit, I checked the clock above my head and saw that it was eight AM. School starts in fifteen minutes... I was late.
I looked out the window and saw that it was Dom; she picks me up on Mondays, but today I would have to drive myself. I couldn't make her late as well.
I quickly shot her a message telling her to go and I'd see her at school.
I ran into the bathroom, doing my daily routine except showering in record time—three minutes.
I had another five minutes to put on my uniform and tame my wild curls. It would take me around six minutes to drive to school. Good thing my first session was Geography, and I had my books with me here at home. I wouldn't have had time to go to my locker.
I quickly captured my hair in a high ponytail and flung on my uniform. I applied some moisturizer to my face and some lip gloss.
I dashed through the door with my handbag over my shoulder and keys in hand, heading straight toward my car.
I broke the speed limit, having four minutes to spare until class. I arrived at the lavish school in record time. I was glad no cops were around. I ran through the gates, hearing the warning bell blare throughout the school compound. By the time I got to the classroom, I was tired from my speed walking/semi-running. I was glad I decided on my black-and-white checkered vans. I walked into the class at the same time as our teacher. He gave me a pointed look while I took the hint, racing toward my seat at the back with Dom and Collin.
The class went on boringly after that, with the teacher talking about scales and maps. Boring.
After Geo, I was escorted to Biology by my dear friend Noah and my boyfriend Ale. I decided to let whatever happens happen. France was noticeably absent today. Weird because he never misses a day of school.
"Psst," a voice called out to me from my left. Then a paper was thrown my way. I unfolded the paper and read a note on it that said:
Tiara, Will you help me ask out Dom? -Noah.
I looked back at him and nodded, of course I would. Dom had always loved him. And now that he knew who she was, it seemed he was infatuated.
Our teacher went on and on about a test that we have next class. Bio was one of my best subjects; a test is the least of my problems.
My next class was French with Collin. We were friends, but we weren't as close.
"Thanks for saving me a seat," I said, walking up to him with a smile.
