-Y/N's PoV-

I shuffled through the old chest. The once-light wood was dirtied with ashes and scorch marks. "Anything?" Dream asked, glancing over my shoulder. F/N popped out of my hood to see what I was doing.

"A saddle, some string, and a couple of bones. Should I take the saddle?" I told him, holding up the saddle.

He took it and put it in his inventory, "Let's keep moving. This place freaks me out." He adjusted the mask on his face and took the lead around the maze-like halls. F/N ducked back into my hood for the comfort. I rolled up my hoodie sleeves to help release the heat coming off my body.

I tried to remember the turns we took so we could get back but I lost count. The halls lead to a lot of dead ends and even more turns. Every passage looked the same with no landmarks so I'm sure we were going in circles. It was right, right, left, right, left, or was it right, left, left, right, right, left? I couldn't remember so I just kept my eyes forward.

Sometimes we would pass a barred window. Ash and soot were built upon the floor from being blown in. We rounded a corner and a chest sat on the other side of it, urging us forward. Dream knelt before the chest. It creaked open on rusted hinges that echoed around the empty hallways. He sifted through the contents and pulled out two shiny blue stones.

"Diamonds." I mouthed and he nodded. He pocketed the precious stones and we continued down the path. There was a room that had corridors on every wall leading to and away from this room. In the center of this room was a boiling puddle of lava. It was being held up by brick walls keeping the liquid from spilling out.

Dream led me to the next hallway leaving the well of lava behind. After a couple more turns and crossways, we came up in a room with a large staircase in the middle and two grow beds on either side. Each bed had red, pulsating plants growing in them. I remember Bad describing this room.

Bending down to examine the plants I saw the screaming faces in the sand that creeped me out a little. Dream looked at the Netherwart with a tight jaw and a pale face in disgust. He clearly didn't like the beating of the plants. I grabbed a few by the roots and pulled them out of the Soul Sand. The Netherwart still moved in my hands even though it was removed from its soil.

"What's that for?" Dream asked, turning away from the wart in my hands. He rubbed his hands together nervously.

"To make potions. The book said that you need Netherwart to brew some so just in case." I answered.

He nodded, glad he didn't have to hold the fungus. He went up the stairs carefully. He was looking out for Wither Skeletons.

"A Wither Skeleton. A Wither Skeleton has a poison that if it gets inside your body it will cause severe pain and eventually wither away if enough is within the body. Avoid at all costs." I read from the book when we were mindlessly wandering the halls when we entered the Nether Fortress. Now we were always on the lookout for the black Skeletons.
