Callie P.O.V

It's Friday now, and I'm waiting at the top of the school's steps to be picked up when Peter nudges my shoulder.

"Hey Callie, what are you doing tonight?"

My stomach flips at his casual half smile and I take a second too long before I answer, "n-nothing. I mean Happy and I usually make dinner Friday evenings, it's sort of our thing, but after that I don't have plans." I clear my throat, trying to sound nonchalant, as if I'm not secretly wishing he'll ask me out.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to catch a movie tonight? We never did get to go on that date..." He says quietly, pressing his tongue into his cheek.

"Oh! Yeah I'd love that!" I say and he blesses me with a perfect smile. I grin back but it falters slightly when I see my ride pull up. "Okay, I have to go, I'll text you?"

"Okay, let's meet at the theatre at 9?"

"Sounds good!" I call, running down the steps and jumping into the front seat. "Hey Happy."

"Not Happy, Uncle."

I gasp, clutching my chest. "Holy shit, Steven! I wasn't expecting you."

"Clearly," He smirks at me, "and no cursing. How was school?" He leans over, kissing my forehead.

"It was good," I say, pulling away from the kiss prematurely, and he furrows his brow at me.

"What's with you?" His voice is slightly edgy, stabbing me with guilt.

"What? Nothing, sorry."

"Okay, fine." I swear I see him roll his eyes but I choose to ignore it. "So, that was Peter?"

My face immediately flushes, "yep."

He glances at me and gives me a closed lip smile, "you like him?"

"Um... I don't know. Do we have to talk about this?"

"I guess not, that blush gave me the answer anyways."

I cover my face with my hands, "fuck off." I shove his shoulder.

"Hey, what did I say about cursing?" He drives a finger into my side making me shriek. "So, Peter is in Decathalon?"

"How did you know?"

"Why else would you join it?" He raises his eyebrows at me knowingly.

"That's not why I joined," I say, it's only a half-lie. "I made a new friend and she invited me to join, that's all. Peter and Ned just happen to be in it too."

"Oh a she? You've finally made a female friend? Thank god!"

"Shut up." I roll my eyes, he laughs and then we sit quietly for the rest of the drive.

When we pull into the driveway I decide to finally ask, "so about Peter," I begin slowly. My Uncle stills but says nothing, waiting. "He asked me to the movies tonight, can I go?" I clench my teeth pleadingly.

He lets out a slow, steady breath, "ah, I'm not sure baby, you know it's not safe for you to go places alone."

"But I'm at school all day!" I sit up, looking straight into his deep blue eyes.

"That's different, you know it is." He holds my stare seriously.

"No I don't know that, I don't see how it's any different. Please Uncle Steve, I've been good, I haven't been sent home for weeks!"

"I'm not sure if I can give you a yes or no answer sweet heart, we have to ask your Dad."

"No, please can you just let me? You know he'll just say no. And besides, it's a Friday night, he always goes out Fridays, he's probably just going to go find something to stick his dick in!" I'm fuming now, letting my mouth run away without me.
