Steve P.O.V
I climb into the cab and Callie immediately wraps her arms around my waist, her head on my chest. I put my arm around her and pull out my cell with my other hand to call Tony.
The line clicks open and before he can even speak I'm blurting, "hey Dad?" Then quickly correcting myself, "uh, Tony?"
He chuckles, "hey Steve, what's up buddy? Is something wrong?"
"Sort of..." I sigh, looking down at Callie who has swiftly fallen asleep, or is at least pretending to. "Something happened and Callie pushed a boy, I didn't see the incident though, she was really upset. Anyways, do you still own the suite in that hotel?"
"Yeah, I'll call and tell them you're coming."
"Okay call me back?" But I can hear him instructing Jarvis to call the Sheraton and then he's back on the line, his actual voice only saved for his family apparently.
"You've known me how long? Why would I waste my time talking to a hotel." He scoffs.
"Yeah you're right, how dumb of me." I roll my eyes.
"I can literally hear the eye roll in your voice." He laughs, and then more seriously, "is she okay?"
"She's sleeping, the teacher was furious though... I don't know if she'll be allowed to go on another trip. To be honest I should've planned for different sleeping arrangements from the get go. By bed time I could tell she was about ready to snap, I mean it was a good day but she was overwhelmed and a little aggressive basically all day."
Tony hums softly, "yeah, I didn't really think of that."
"I think we should look into a diagnosis," he makes a sound of protest but I talk over him, "no listen, watching her with other kids... Tony it's obvious. She's over stimulated so she misbehaves, it's not fair to not help her."
He sighs, "can we talk about it when you get home?"
I agree and then mischievously add, "it's a Friday night and you're home, and alone?"
"Well, I won't be alone in about half an hour. My girl, or I guess more like my fuck Buddy, is coming over and she's bringing a friend." The glee in his voice is so clear it makes me squirm. I have to give my head a shake as it keeps wandering to the thought of him with two women, what would that be like? Instead of commenting on that I change the topic, "I got a girl's number today." I say, doing my best to sound casual.
"What? Good for you buddy! Is she cute?" I find myself grinning, he sounds just as happy for me as he is about his own good fortune.
"Yeah she's really cute. The only thing is, it's Peter's Auntie, which I guess could be kind of awkward for Callie."
I look up to see we've arrived at the hotel, so I pay the driver and unbuckle Callie, shifting her into my arms before retrieving the bag, to my surprise she is fast asleep. I cram the cellphone between my ear and shoulder.
