Damn... Just realized this is Chapter 69 and I didn't even 69.... how appalling.
Callie P.O.V
On the way to pick up Peter and Harry, Uncle is quiet for a long time. The silence is painful and when he finally speaks, I'm relieved.
"So, you lied about your period. Why?"
"I wanted you to leave so I could sneak out to meet Peter."
His hands tighten on the steering wheel and his jaw clenches. "How often do you do that?"
"It was just the one time," I insist.
Nodding, he relaxes and I exhale in relief.
"It hurts my feelings that you lied to me," he says quietly.
I grit my teeth. "It hurts my feelings that you forgot me and then invited May to our special night."
"Touché." He sighs and grabs my hand. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have invited them."
"It's okay. I'm sorry for lying." He kisses my hand to let me know I'm forgiven and we drive the rest of the way in amicable silence.
When we arrive he asks me to sit in the back—I grumble but do as I'm told. Peter climbs in beside me and grins. My stomach flips as the smell of his cologne wafts over me. His smile falters as Uncle greets May with a kiss but he recovers and kisses my cheek.
"Stop it," Cap barks from the front seat.
"You just sucked face—
"Callie." His tone is laced with warning so I shut my mouth.
Peter shrugs and takes my hand. "Are you feeling better?"
"Not really." I shift in my seat, just the mention of it makes me anxious of having to pee.
The couple begin chatting amongst themselves so Peter lowers his voice and leans in, "was he very late?"
"Like half an hour."
"Oh my word, Callie. I'm sorry, that's terrible." He shakes his head. "Aunt May said he ran out of the apartment like it was on fire."
"Yeah, it was shitty."
We hold hands all the way to the theatre but as soon as the car shifts into park I pull away from him and clamber out.
We walk to the ticket cue but are only waiting a second when Harry's head pops out the side door. "Guys, come this way. I've got your tickets."
He hands everyone their tickets and we all join the popcorn line. Uncle has his arm wrapped around May, they're whispering to each other and laughing. I roll my eyes at them and turn to my friends. "Disgusting," I mutter.
"Yeah, disgusting," Peter nods, his brows furrowed.
Harry steps between us, throwing his arms around our shoulders. "I think they're cute."
"Shut up," I grumble.
"Just ignore it and hang out with us. I feel like we haven't had fun for so long. We should have another sleepover."
"Yeah, that would be great. Tomorrow?"
"Works for me."
Peter steps forward, arms wide, "what about me?"
"Well... you and Ned could come hang out before? Like last time. Here I'll ask."
Stepping around my friends, I grab my Uncle's hand. He's mid-laugh but he stops and kneels down for me. May gives me a strange look, but I ignore it.
