Callie P.O.VI wake up in the late afternoon feeling groggy and confused. There's a slew of text messages on my phone, most of them in our friend chat asking where I am, but there's one in my personal inbox from MJ asking about our sleepover.
I quickly type back
Hey sorry, I'm thinking it will be a no. I'll ask though.
And then I send a quick message to the group chat
Friends! Sorry, we had some crazy shit this morning. I'm fine, not actually sick.
Harry replies almost immediately
Thank god Stark! You've been ghosting us all day!
I sigh and quickly send an explanation
Sorry guys, I slept most of the day.
I climb out of bed and leave my room, searching for my family. I don't see anyone so I jog through the halls, out into the professional side and go down to the gym, passing several suit-wearing employees on the way. I make it to the workout area and find my Uncle and Sam with several trainees, presenting different ways to dismantle an opponent.
Seeing the muscular blonde man brings back the memories of this morning, his anger and his hand colliding with my chest, but also his remorse. I stand in the corner watching quietly for a few minutes, observing the moves, imagining how to carry them out on a human body.
"Cap?" Someone calls and points me out, my cover blown.
"Oh, Callie!" He calls, his face dropping in concern, "start practicing that last take down please," he tells the group and walks over to me.
He squats down in front of me so we're eye to eye, and he grabs my shoulders and pulls me into a hug, squeezing me tight, "you okay? I'm so sorry Callie," he whispers.
"I'm okay, I forgive you." I murmur into his shoulder, hugging him back.
He brings his hand up to my head and feels around for the bump, "it feels a little better," he sighs.
"Can I stay?" I pull back and point at the group of recruits.
"Sure," he shrugs, going to pick me up.
"No, can I like, join?" I ask, catching his hands and holding them in front of me.
"Uh, I'm not sure baby..."
"I can be your partner little Stark!" Sam calls, jogging over, and pulls me by the hand into a clear floor space.
My Uncle protests briefly but Sam waves him off, "she's fine. Okay, this is what we've been working on, now obviously you're too light to drop me, but if you use your powers to, like, levitate me, you should be able to do it."
