Synopsis:
Dot lives in a world with twenty-five Gods. The Gods of Nature keep to themselves and live mostly in hiding. The five minor Gods make a big show of announcing themselves, and doing tours, and are generally celebrities. The Gods of Principle declare themselves at 0, die at 50, and are reincarnated.
She tries to blend in. Dot does so successfully, never sticking out like a sore thumb. She coasted through grade school, and then high school, and now she's in university trying to make it through without making any friends. The one exception to her rule has been David, but David has been the exception to every rule.
In her third year at university, Dot gets a panicked phone call from David, who she hasn't spoken to in years. He asks her to visit him, a several-hour train ride away, and the only thing he asks her to bring is a foundation in his shade.
Dot finds herself thrust into a new future. One where her skin sparkles gold and silver, where the responsibility of the world falls on her shoulders, and where David is strictly off-limits, no matter how much she loves him.
