Asylum Sans is crazy, broken fragments of the sans he could have been.
His Papyrus is dead, a ghost/spirit.
Thing is, part of the reason he broke, is that he wasn't suppose to be this Sans but another.
Gaster stole his soul from another...

TK sans travels time, when one travels time when they travel one time to another there is a split second they don't exist on the same existence as usual.
Well... Gaster, somehow grabbed TK in that moment placing the soul in sweet Asy, and Asylumtale began its trek of sadness.
Then.. Asy begins to remember.
He's just going more nuts right?
Him a time kid...
