—chaewon comforts heejin after she faces her first heartbreak.

-

Heejin hugged her knees. She used her free hand to wipe away her tears. There was a cold breeze that blown on her face that made a chill run down her spine. The mix of wet tears on her face and the chill wind, wasn't pleasant.

Suddenly, a small figure sat down next to her. Heejin paid no attention to them though. She didn't really feel like talking to anyone unless it was Chaewon.

"Heartbreak?" The figure asked. Heejin immediately recognized that squeaky voice. She could recognize it anywhere.

A sort of comfort seeped through her body. Something about the blonde girl made her feel at ease and it was almost as if, she forgot the reason she was even crying.

Heejin chuckled, turning her head to meet Chaewon's eyes. The younger's eyes were round and bright, seeming as if she expected this. They looked deep into Heejin and she wasn't sure she liked it.

"Hah..yeah.." She mumbled. She felt a bit sheepish.

Chaewon let out a hum, a quiet affirmation that let the older know that she was listening.

"Do you remember when I asked you about dating advice and stuff to be prepared for while in a relationship?" Heejin started, letting her gaze drift to the stars above.

Chaewon nodded and silently waited for her to continue. She also changed her view realizing the older looked away when she caught her staring.

Heejin chuckled, "Well..you never told me how much heartbreaks were gonna hurt."

Heejin sadly smiled before breaking down completely. Chaewon quickly but gently embraced the older in her arms and tried her best to calm her down.

"Shh, I'm sorry I never warned you. Breakups hurt, trust me I've been there. Losing the person you loved hurts."

Heejin sniffled, "Hyunjin said s-she n-never liked-liked me.." It was a little hard to make out words when Heejin's cries were beginning to mix into them.

"Hey..look at me." Chaewon gently grabbed Heejin's face to make her look at her.

"Being in love with someone who doesn't love you back is the worst, but you have to let go eventually. You'll keep chasing them and wasting your time over someone who won't even spare a minute for you in the world." Chaewon softly wiped Heejin's tears away with her thumb.

Heejin smiled and rested her head against Chaewon's shoulder. A few more tears fell but neither girl minded that.

"You seem to know a lot about this one sided love thing Chae." Heejin quietly mumbled as her cheek squished against Chaewon's shoulder.

Chaewon chuckled, "Yeah..I guess I do." She quietly whispered as a tear slowly fell down her own cheek.

Chaewon closed her eyes and held Heejin close, afraid that if she let go, the older girl would slip away from her forever.

And if she ever lost Heejin, she wouldn't know what she would do.

You would never love me back and yet I can't seem to let you go. It's pathetic how I told you to move on and heal but I can't even think about ever letting you slip away.

I'm afraid.

One day you'll be gone.

And I'll just be here, hopelessly in love with you.

Chaewon took time to just hold Heejin in her arms. To feel the warmth she gave off. To feel how Heejin nuzzled into her carefully. To feel Heejin's steady heartbeat.

She doesn't remember when they fell asleep, but she still let it happen.

And Chaewon was glad to wake up with Heejin, still in her arms.

—End.
