That Damn Smile

—chaewon makes eye contact with the same girl every time she visits the coffee shop.

Chaewon doesn't really know exactly when it started. By it, she means her new routine.

She just came to her favourite coffee shop everyday, sat in the same spot, and ordered the same thing each time.

Most people would say that this is boring; doing the same thing and buying the same flavored drink everyday.

For Chaewon though, it was something new. Something she wasn't accustomed to at first, but began loving. She never liked coffee so buying it every morning before class became her new favorite thing.

So there Chaewon sat, the same front table right next to the main front window.

She always chose this spot, whether it was because she liked looking outside the window or because of the good lighting it provided for pictures.

And every time someone had occupied the spot, she only let herself grumble about it for 2 minutes before finding her way to the back.

In other words, she liked the seat simply because it gave her a chance to stare at that brunette girl who always sat in the back of the shop.

Luckily, Chaewon had always gotten lucky and didn't awkwardly run into the girl on the days she had to sit in the back.

Chaewon would catch herself staring at the girl the moment she entered the shop, always looking and scanning the inside to see if the brunette was there those days.

From what she picked up, the brunette was there only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Don't get her wrong, she wasn't a creep or anything, she just couldn't help but find the girl attractive.

It was safe to say that Chaewon had definitely developed a crush on the girl but she would never openly admit to that of course.

The girl usually just sat there quietly. Sometimes reading, with a book in hand or on her phone. In some cases, she would be drawing.

Chaewon couldn't help but find her pretty.

If it hadn't been for the urge to go to the bathroom, she would've never known the brunette had a small mole under her eye.

It was cute. She was cute.

On those days where Chaewon couldn't help but stare, the brunette would look up for a split second and send a soft smile before returning to herself.

Heartache.

She was so cute.

Her smile.

It looked to perfect.

And Chaewon wanted nothing more but to be the person who was making her smile. She wanted to get closer to the girl but how could she approach a beauty like her?

She was out of her league.

Like every other day, Chaewon came into the shop, with the ring of a bell.

It was a typical Friday afternoon and she badly needed a coffee to get rid of the stress she built up over the week. School was finally at its peak for her.

The cashier greeted her with a smile as she approached him.

"The usual?" He chuckled seeing Chaewon go wide eyed. Chaewon nodded shyly and the cashier did the same. She turned away after paying and made her way to sit down in her also usual spot.

Today was Friday, Chaewon reminded herself.

The brunette should be here, Chaewon thought as she scanned around the inside of the coffee shop. She sighed out of disappointment and proceeded to open her phone and play games as a distraction.

She heard the coffee shop door bell ring, but paid no attention to it. That was until she felt a presence in front of her, in the seat across from her.

Chaewon looked up and was surprised to see it was the brunette.

She audibly gasped.

The girl giggled.

That damn smile.

"Hi." she spoke quietly.

Chaewon could only silently stare. She never realized the girl was so beautiful up close.

Her fluffy hair. Her perfect visuals.

She was ethereal.

"You're beautiful.." Chaewon whispered and the girl almost didn't catch it. She didn't let it slip past her ears though.

The girl smiled warmly, "Thank you. You're beautiful yourself. Tell me about yourself, I'm Heejin, Jeon Heejin."

Chaewon's cheeks reddened.

This would be the start of something interesting.
