—a lot can happen when your ex shows up drunk at your doorstep, heejin supposes.
-
Being woken up by loud banging on the door was not what Heejin expected to happen to her at 3 AM on a fine, peaceful Saturday.
Groaning lowly, she pulled her covers off of her and stood up, turning on the lamp on her small nightstand and then made her way to the hallway, leading to the living room and kitchen.
As she got closer, the pounding only got louder and quicker, the person seeming to get more angry or something of that sort. Heejin shook her head and hoped she didn't regret this.
"Now who the fuck would show up this late?" She mumbled, brows furrowed in frustration as she peeked out the peep hole. Though it was dark out, she could make out a womanly figure in frame, slouching over and hair all over her face.
Heejin backed away, a little startled by the sight. She knew better than to think it was a ghost or anything but she couldn't help but consider it. Taking a breath, she walked closer again and looked through the hole once more.
The figure was still standing there, but this time, Heejin could hear low mumbling coming from the other side of the door. The voice sounded familiar in a way and sore, as if the person were sick.
Letting curiosity get the best of her, Heejin placed an ear on the door and did her best to make out whatever the person was saying.
"Miss you...Heejin.." They mumbled, sighing and groaning following after. They sounded exhausted but continued saying whatever they had in mind, "My Heekie..Want you back please.."
If it wasn't for the nickname they had used, Heejin wouldn't be triggered but now she was nothing but that. The only person what would use that damned endearment was her ex. It couldn't possibly be her, right?
"Fuck this. Of all times Yerim.." Heejin grumbled and finally opened the door after clicking some locks.
Yerim, now facing Heejin with a dopey smile, gladly welcomed herself with open arms. She threw herself on the older and giggled, relieved and glad to see her after a long time.
"Heekie! I'm so happy you're here.." She exclaimed, cupping Heejin's cheeks with her warm hands, taking her thumbs to squeeze the woman's cheeks.
Heejin awkwardly chuckled, nodding at whatever words Yerim was now rambling about. She took the younger's hand and removed them from herself, placing them around her shoulders and guided her to the couch.
She placed Yerim on the cushions and sighed, satisfied with getting her to settle down. Though, the peace only lasted for so long before Yerim was back to pulling Heejin closer and clinging tightly onto her.
"Heejin..Why did I have to ruin our relationship? Why couldn't I just stay quiet and listen to you.." Yerim sadly muttered, burying her face into the older's shirt. She began to ball her eyes out, feeling guilty for being the reason their relationship fell apart.
The older felt bad as well. She rethought about the night it all happened and realized how mean she was to Yerim. She yelled and screamed at her and all Yerim could do was let it happen.
Heejin shook her head, "No Yerim, it's my fault we broke up. I knew how happy we were but I hurt you that night. I can't take that back."
