Lucinda Malfoy sighed. She did not anticipate anything; her parents demanded so much, and her twin brother was literally a brat. But what could she do? The first day of Hogwarts anyway came. And Lucinda was sure she was going to be a Slytherin- Malfoys always did. Which meant she was stuck with her brother even more.

With all these thoughts, Lucinda said goodbye to her parents and boarded the Hogwarts Express. The moment Lucinda set foot on the train, she went in the opposite direction of Draco and headed to an empty seat. She put her luggage on the shelf and started to read a book, waiting for the snack trolley.

Not long after, students started to take a seat and settle in. Lucinda glanced at some of them- indeed, they looked more likable than people she used to see. She went back to her book, falling into the depths of the story. Reading books was a sure way of escaping reality.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" A voice pulled Lucinda back to reality. She closed her book and raised her head. A blonde boy stood, pointing at the seat beside Lucinda's.

"No, it's not," Lucinda replied and went back to where she was reading (she was on the climax, and nobody would stop reading in a climax).

"Anything off the trolley, dears?" The trolley witch's words brought Lucinda back once again. She realized that it was lunchtime and she was hungry.

"Two Cauldron Cakes, some Liquorice Wands, and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, please. Oh, and a Chocolate Frog, too." Lucinda paid for the food and started eating them. The taste was delicious as always. Then something ruined her mood.

"Lucinda, did you hear that Harry Potter is in our grade?" Draco ruined the relish that only food can give.

'Wait, the Harry Potter? Now, what's my brother plotting?'

"No. What are you planning, Draco?"

"Well, I thought it would be good to befriend him."

"Oh god, so pretentious. Why do you care to tell me? You know I won't join your little gang, brother." Lucinda was on the verge of saying 'bastard' but thought better of it.

"Whatever." Draco turned and went out of the car.

"Whoa, you're definitely not on good terms with your brother." The boy who sat beside Lucinda commented.

"Yeah, we don't get along. By the way, I'm Lucinda Malfoy." Lucinda sighed.

"I'm Newt."

"Like, a short version of Newton?"

"Yeah, nobody notices that!"

"There's this wizard called Newt Scamander. I read about him somewhere. And his name is a shortened version of Newton, so I guessed your name was the same, too."

"Oh, really? Um, and what's the deal with that Harry kid if he's the same age as you?"

"You don't know about Harry Potter?"

"Nothing at all. I'm actually quite new with all the 'magic' thing. I'm from a non-magical... background."

"Oh, then that makes sense. Harry Potter's basically the kid who beat up the evil sorcerer you-know-who when he was an infant. We don't say you-know-who's name aloud- and my brother was just being pretentious, wanting to be friends with the famous kid."

"Whoa, that's cool. That kid must have something."

"Mm-hmm. Anyway, want a jelly bean? Though I warn you- it has literally every flavor."

"Yeah, thanks. Okay... Bloody hell, that was awful! What flavor was that?"

 "Spinach."

 "Eww!"

"There's worse- like soap, earwax, earthworm, dirt, vomit..."

The two shared jokes and talked all along the way to Hogwarts. Lucinda had never felt so happy like this. Meeting a genuinely nice kid.
