*Author's Note: This is a flashback of when Lucinda was a 5-year-old. I wanted to reveal some clues and make the story more suspenseful :)

1985

Lucinda heard low voices coming from somewhere. She was very curious about what was happening. Lucinda left her bed, only wearing her pajamas and a slipper, tiptoeing not to wake her brother up.

The voices were coming from Lucinda's father's study. The children were usually not allowed to go into the study, but curiosity won Lucinda. She stood close to the door, eavesdropping.

 "... Is the extraction done?"

"We're sure about it. The children will not have a hint of magic from now on, and it will all go to our Lord."

 "Good. You may leave now."

Footsteps were heard, and Lucinda quickly went into the next room, which was fortunately empty. A man with black hair came out of the room and walked out of the Malfoy Manor.

Afraid she would be caught, Lucinda went back to her room and tried to sleep. But the word 'extraction' kept bugging her. She decided to search up what was 'extraction' tomorrow in the dictionary.

Extraction: the action of removing something

So that was it. Something weird was happening; Lucinda's father was involved in removing magic from children. There was the benefit of the doubt, but in young Lucinda's mind, something broke. And that something was trust.

Before that day, Lucinda worked hard to impress and achieve. But after that day, Lucinda only did what she liked. She was always stuck in the library and occasionally practiced broomsticks. But except that, Lucinda did not interact with her parents much. That naturally made Lucinda grow apart from Draco, too. He always wanted to impress and brag.

On the other hand, Lucinda wanted to be herself. And she tried hard to be herself though it was not easy.
