Lucas woke up to his work phone ringing "hello ?" He said, clearing his throat.
"Hi, is this Lucas and company ?" The lady asked on the phone
"Yes, ma'am, how can I help you? " He said, getting up making his way to his office
"I'm looking to renovate my house. I have a lot of ideas, and I would love to set an appointment for you to come to check it out, and maybe we can go from there," She said, sounding like she thought she was asking for too much.
"Oh yes, of course, ma'am, will Thursday at 11 am work for you ?" He asked, looking at his schedule.
"Yes, sir, I just bought this home from my uncle, and it needs a lot of work. But, I hope we can figure this out," She said, hopeful.
"Of course, ma'am, I'll see you then."
"Okay, good, bye-bye" She hung up, and Lucas sat excitedly. But, of course, being an entrepreneur comes with a lot of stress and pressure, mainly because you're doing things yourself. Nevertheless, Lucas was happy his business was where he wanted it to be.
He jumped up from his desk and saw Leah in the kitchen "good morning, baby." He chirped; she ignored him and went upstairs. He rolled his eyes and followed behind her. "Baby, I know you're still mad, but-" Leah slammed the door in his face causing him to chuckle and sigh.
"Leah," He said, sighing and opening the door, "baby, I am so sorry, please talk to me," he said, holding her feet at the bottom of the bed. She looked at him, rolled her eyes, and moved her feet.
"Fine," He said, laying on top of her.
"Move," She said, angry "ahh, so she speaks," He said, laughing.
"Lucas respect my wishes," She said, trying not to laugh
"Don't you do this to me when I'm pissed the fuck off ?" He asked, watching her trying to hide her smile. "I don't care to get off. I'm serious," She said, pushing him.
"So you can do it to me, but I can't do it?" He asked, looking at her like she was crazy
"No," she said dryly.
He looked at her and sighed, "Leah, I'm sorry." She ignored him and played with her nails. "Baby, please," He said, getting a little emotional.
"Do you understand why I'm mad?" she asked.
"Because I left, and I wouldn't allow myself to give you a chance to explain why you didn't know if you wanted to be pregnant right now, and I'm sorry-"
"Back door," the security system called out. Leah immediately jumped up, making Lucas fall beside her. She started breathing heavily; her heart started beating so fast she thought it was coming out of her chest. "Lucas," She whispered, fighting back the tears, "Lucas."
'I'm right here, baby, breathe," He said, rubbing her back "were you expecting somebody ?"
"No," She said, starting to cry; she was beginning to have a panic attack.
"Okay, baby, you need to calm down, breathe." She focused on her breathing, and Lucas grabbed his gun behind the dresser. "Stay right here," Lucas whispered.
"No, wait, Lucas, please," She cried out.
"Go in the bathroom, and I will get you as soon as I scope out the house, okay ?"
She nodded her head and tip-toed into the bathroom. Then, she hid in the tub behind the curtain and started rocking herself, counting to 10 repeatedly.
Lucas checked all the rooms upstairs and didn't find anything suspicious. So he made his way downstairs and into the living room. Opening all the doors, Lucas prepared to shoot anybody they didn't recognize. He made his way into the dining room and the kitchen but didn't find anything.
Upstairs, Leah was trying to figure out if she locked the door. The quietness of the house was causing her to freak out even more.
POW POW
Leah ran out of the bathroom and ran downstairs.
"LUCAS" She yelled from the bottom of the stairs. She didn't care If she was about to run into an intruder or Michael. She wanted to make sure her man was okay. "LUCAS" She yelled, running into the living and the dining room. She ran over to him, expecting to see him hurt but instead, he was hovering over a guy applying pressure to his gunshot wound.
"CALL 911" He yelled
Leah ran and got her phone and quickly dialed 911
"911, what's your emergency."
"I need an ambulance sent to 457 Holloway Dr," Leah said in a panic
"What the emergency," The operator asked
"My boyfriend shot an intruder."
"Where was he shot?"
"Girl, I don't know. I heard the gun go off, and I found them; please send the ambulance," Leah said
"Okay, we have an officer and ambulance dispatched to you; they'll be there soon. Are you and your boyfriend hurt ?" The lady asked
'I'm fine, but I don't know about my boyfriend."
"LEAH" Lucas yelled out, "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE AMBULANCE ?"
Leah ran out of the room and downstairs "there on the way" She couldn't catch her breath, and everything in the room started spinning; she found it hard to swallow. She couldn't hear anymore.
"Leah? Le-LEAH," Lucas said, watching her pass out.
"GOT DAMN IT" Lucas yelled. "WHERE THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE AT?"
The police started pounding on the door. "COME THROUGH THE BACK" Lucas yelled.
The crew came around back; they tapped Lucas on the shoulder, telling him to get up so they could help the guy.
"Leah," he ran over to her, and she was unconscious, "CAN I GET SOMEBODY OVER HERE, PLEASE ?" He yelled. One of the ambulance people helped rushed over to Leah checking her vitals and making sure she was okay. Then, they placed the man on the stretcher and wheeled him into the ambulance.
"Sir, we have to ask you a few questions," The officer said, guiding him away from Leah. "Do you know the guy that got shot?"
"Oh no, I saw him running from my basement to my dining room, and I shot him"
"Did he break-in, or was a door unlocked ?"
"Both, I swear I promise you I locked the door," Lucas said, looking at the blood on his hands. "Is my wife going to be okay ?' He asked the ambulance worker walking pass
"Yeah, she's fine; she just got overwhelmed and passed out; we have to take her to the hospital to make sure everything is okay cause she fell pretty hard, and her blood pressure is shallow."
"Okay, I'm going with you," Lucas said as the other guy put Leah on the stretcher.
The officer nodded and followed the ambulance guys outside. Lucas ran upstairs and grabbed some shoes, and locked up the house; he hopped in the ambulance and held Leah's hand the whole way there.
