After leaving Slateport City after the pokemon contest, our heroes head to Dewford Island, which isn't far from Slateport luckily.

Ash was reading a guide about Dewford Town, trying to get some interesting information.

Dewford Town both has a fighting type gym and a fighting type Frontier Brain.

Ash decides he's gonna do them both, but is unsure which one he should do first.

After a while, they arrive in Dewford, May hopping off and stretching while Max looked around and Brock looking for pretty girls, of course.

Ash finds the Dewford Gym and walks in, a blue haired man, who seemed to be a couple years older than Ash was there.

"Huh. Oh, you're Ash Ketchum!" He said, Ash nodding, a bit timid.
"Y-you must be the gym leader, Brawly."

The blue haired man nodded and says
"That I am. Did you come here for a gym battle?" Ash nods and says "That's correct. Do you have the time?"

Brawly scratches the back of his head nervously and says "Sorry. Weekends are my days off."

Ash nodded and replies "That's okay. That'll just give me more time to train and go challenge the Frontier Brain here."

Brawly smiled brightly and says "That's the spirit! Look on the bright side! Actually, my cousin, Greta, is the Frontier Brain here."

Ash nodded and says "You two are fighting type users, correct?" Brawly nodded again and says "You got it! But I'm afraid Greta needs some time off this weekend too, since me and her had an intense battle and both of our pokemon are still at the pokemon center."

Ash nods and says "That's understandable. Again, it'll give me time to train."

Brawly nods and walks off, Ash heading to Granite Cave to train after explaining to his companions about why he wont battle Brawly and Greta for a while.

Ash heard a soft cry from a corner of the cave, following the sound, finding a shiny Aron, who was malnourished and hurt.

Ash felt horrible for the small iron pokemon. How could anyone let it get into such bad shape. He crawls to the pokemon.

<P-please dont hurt me!>The Aron squealed, Ash making sure Aron has room.

"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." He answered in a gentle tone, the little Aron shocked.

<You..understood me?> It questioned, from the voice, it was a female, to which Ash nods, taking out some iron ore he found and kept incase he ever caught an Aron or any of their evolutions and gives it to the pokemon.

"You hungry?" Ash said, to which Aron nods and eats the ore rather quickly, seeming to be more comfortable.

<Th-thank you.> She said softly, to which Ash smiled and then he asks "Why're you alone?"
Aron looked down and began to speak.

<My trainer didnt like me..he wanted an Aggron, so he bought me from a breeder. He's from this group of people called Team Magma. I didn't like him. He was scary. He'd hurt me for not learning moves on the first try. He then abandoned me here, saying I'll never amount to anything..That I'll...never be good enough..that it's not worth having a shiny pokemon if it can't do anything right..>

Ash balled up his fist, clearly mad, not at Aron, but at her old trainer. Team Magma. Not again. He thought, but his thoughts were interrupted by some explosions.
