A Poached Ego

Our heroes are still enroute to Rustboro City, but finds a sharp object embedded in a tree trunk.

Infact, a lot of the trees had similar objects and markings.

Ash seemed disgusted, praying that no one was hurt or killed.

Officer Jenny appears and they ask about the sharp items, Officer Jenny looking nervous.

"They're from a net from a wanted pokemon poacher named Rico. He mainly goes after poison types and grass types once in a blue moon and he kidnapped many Koffing and Ekans." She explains, Ash looking even more disgusted.

A girl from a nearby flower shop runs over, clearly worried and scared.

"Officer Jenny! Rico stole my Roselia and her egg!" She cried, Jenny and the gang looking surprised.

While the others arent seeing, Team Rocket have been eavesdropping, utterly disturbed by the pokemon poacher stealing and hurting Ekans and Koffing. After all, they may be crooks, but they're not heartless.

"We need to find this Rico jerk! How dare they hurt innocent little Ekans?!" Jessie said, clearly ticked, James and Meowth equally ticked.

Ash and the gang finds them, looming ticked.

Team Rocket explains that they should have a truce until Rico is defeated.

May, Max, and Brock were skeptical, but Ash feels that Jessie, James, and Meowth are actually sincere in wanting to help.

"I think they should help us." He says, everyone is shocked.

"But Ash-" Max goes to object, but Ash stops him by "We can all agree on what Rico is doing to those poison types is wrong. Might as well try to have a truce."

Everyone was skeptical, but eventually agrees.

"May, bring out Swablu, she, along with my Taillow, Wingull, and Togetic can look in the skies for a higher ground."

May thinks about this and nods, the bird like pokemon and Togetic flies up and they all come back down, pointing north, as if to say "That way!"

And so they do go north, seeing a truck's trunk with many Ekans, Koffing, a Gulpin, two Cacnea, a Roselia, and an egg in it's arms. They're all wounded and in a large cage.

Ash orders Pikachu and Eevee to break the cage with Iron Tail, to which they do.

The girl from the flower shop runs to her Roselia, but is shoved out of the way by a Pupitar.

A man with dark green hair and a Fearow swoops in. "Hey! Hands off my merchandise!" He shouts.

The girl gets mad and shrieks "That's my Roselia and her egg! Give them back!"

He chuckles, but was obvious that he won't cooperate.

"Rico, you're under arrest for pokemon poaching and pokemon abuse!" Jenny says, to which Rico scoffs.

Ash sees the Pupitar and looks pale, then he warns everyone with "Guys, be careful, that Pupitar is very close to evolving!"

He was right, Pupitar started to glow and evolves into Tyranitar.

"Heh, the brat's right about that. Now Hyper Beam!" Rico orders, but Jessie has her Arbok out along with James having Weezing out, going for an attack on Tyranitar, but it didn't do much.

An explosion from the Hyper Beam caused Roselia to be startled and Ash rushes in and catches the egg before it broke, but then, it starts hatching.

It becomes a healthy shiny female Budew. The little pokemon looks up at Ash, instantly thinking he's her father.

"Well I can certainly get good money off a shiny Budew!" Rico said, going for Budew, but Pikachu Volt Tackles him away from the new hatchling.

James shields one of the Cacnea from Fearow's Fury Attack, the other Cacnea and Gulpin rushes to Ash to help Pikachu with Needle Arm and Sludge.

Pikachu defeats Tyranitar and Fearow with Thunderbolt, Jenny manages to cuff Rico.

After a while, the Cacnea that James shielded becomes James' pokemon.

As for the other Cacnea, Gulpin, and the new Budew, they were very fond of Ash.

Roselia and her trainer let Ash have Budew as she still believes him as her father.

Ash thanked the two and scans them all.

[Gulpin, the Stomach Pokemon.
Most of Gulpin's body is made up of its stomach - its heart and brain are very small in comparison. This Pokémon's stomach contains special enzymes that dissolve anything.
This Gulpin is level 10 with the ability Liquid Ooze, Male, and knows the moves Pound, Yawn, Poison Gas, Sludge, Smog*Egg Move*, Acid Armor*Egg Move*, and Gunk Shot*Egg Move*]

[Cacnea, the Cactus Pokemon.
The more arid and harsh the environment, the more pretty and fragrant a flower Cacnea grows. This Pokémon battles by wildly swinging it's thorny arms.
This Cacnea is level 38 with the ability Water Absorb, Male, and knows the moves Poison Sting, Leer, Growth, Leech Seed, Sand Attack, Feint Attack, Needle Arm, Ingrain, Payback, Spikes, Sucker Punch, Pin Missile, Magical Leaf*Egg Move*, Acid*Egg Move*, Counter*Egg Move*, Dynamic Punch*Egg Move*, Power-Up Punch*Egg Move*, Grass Whistle*Egg Move*, and Seed Bomb*Egg Move*]

[Budew, the Bud Pokemon.
Over the winter, it closes its bud and endures the cold. In spring, the bud opens and releases pollen.
This Budew is level 1 with the ability Natural Cure, Female, and knows the moves Growth, Stun Spore Worry Seed, Razor Leaf*Egg Move*, Life Dew*Egg Move*, Extrasensory*Egg Move*, Synthesis*Egg Move*, Giga Drain*Egg Move*, Seed Bomb*Egg Move*, Pin Missile*Egg Move*, Grass Whistle*Egg Move*, and Leaf Storm*Egg Move*]

Jessie's Arbok and James' Weezing were released to protect the Ekans and Koffing. The pokemon were skeptical, but after a bit, they agreed after a farewell hug by the two Team Rocket members and they all went into the woods.

"Huh, I never knew Team Rocket can do good deeds." May said, Beocks chuckles and says "They're an interesting pair."
Ash nods at this in agreement.

Our heroes goes back to the road to Rustboro City for the gym.
As the journey continues.
