The Final Frontier

Our heroes have arrived at Sootopolis City, thanks to Tate and Liza, who hired a friend from the traveling agency to get them to Sootopolis City safely.

Ash was a bit nervous, scrubbing his badge case for the umpteenth time.
"Ash, you don't need to be so nervous. You beat three leagues AND saved legendary pokemon a gazillion times! You got these next battles in the bag." May says with a smile.

Ash chuckles at the remark. "I dunno about "a gazillion times" May. But I appreciate the thought."

Ash felt better with May's words of encouragement, even if they did or didn't always make sense.

They arrive at the Battle Pyramid. It was still as breathtaking and mysterious as always.

Ash walks in, finding Brandon and Scott. "Ash! I'm glad to see you all made it safely." The older man says happily.

The same man on the ferry to Mossdeep was there. "So this is the famous Ash. Sorry we didn't properly introduce."

Ash was surprised to see the man there. "You look..familiar.. Other than on the ferry, I mean.. Oh! You're Reggie! You challenged Uncle Brandon, and you're a pokemon breeder in Sinnoh! Right?"

"You're right. I'm glad to meet you." Reggie says with a smile. "So, you're a breeder? I'm Brock. Nice to meet you." Brock says.

After pleasantries were exchanged, Brandon looked seriously at Ash.
"Before you battle me.."
Ash was nervous. Did something bad happen?

"Could you make some lunch for us?" Brandon says cheerfully, though everyone fell from such an anticlimactic response.

"That's Uncle Brandon for you." Molly and Ash say in unison. Ash agreed and got to the kitchen.

"Reggie, other than Luxray, did you bring any other pokemon? I can make their food." Ash asked politely.

"That would be great. I left my supplies back at the pokemon center. Well, other than Luxray, I brought Swalot, Kangaskhan, and a newly hatched Budew I received." Reggie says.

Ash nods and says, "It's a good thing, Brock, and I have recipes for all kinds of pokemon."

Max was in awe of Luxray. "This is the first time I've seen a Luxray in person."

"Yeah, most Sinnoh pokemon that live here are usually baby pokemon like Budew and Bonsly. He's a reliable boy." Reggie says, stroking Luxray's mane.

"It's cool! What kind of pokemon is it, though?" May asked.

"Luxray is the final evolved form of Shinx and Luxio. All of them are pure electric type pokemon. Their eyes can see through anything. That's how I knew Groudon and Kyogre were in those submarines." Ash explains.

"How come you're in Sootopolis? I thought the ferry we were on at the time was going to Mossdeep." Brock asks.

"Oh, see, I was helping out a friend in Mossdeep City before I came to see Brandon. I heard from a mutual friend that Ash was going to battle him eight on eight. I didn't wanna miss out." Reggie says, chuckling a bit.

After everyone ate, they headed to the battlefield, the others heading to the bleachers.

"Let's start with a double battle, then after that's done, we switch to triple battle."

"Sounds good to me." Ash says, seeing Brandon let out Ninjask and Shedinja, letting out Aggron and Absol in turn.

Shedinja and Ninjask were very fast, being able to dodge or use Protect on every move.

Ash has an idea. "Girls, DTDBRSNS17."
The two nod, using Double Team a large amount, while the real ones manage to hide Aggron using Dig and Absol with Bounce.

The two bug pokemon were unable to find Absol and Aggron, too busy taking out the doubles. They didn't notice Aggron popping out with Rock Slide and Absol descending onto them with Night Slash.

Either way, the bug pokemon were getting hurt, and Shedinja would be knocked out due to its ability Wonder Guard.

Ninjask blocked Shedinja from getting hit by Night Slash.
Absol jumped out of the way, so Rock Slide didn't hit her.

Though Shedinja and Ninjask were nowhere near as lucky, knocked out by the powerful rock type move.

"Woah... Not bad at all!" Brandon says in awe, returning his bug types as Ash returned his Aggron and Absol.

"Now we're getting into triple battles! Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, go!" Brandon says, letting out the three legendary bird pokemon as Ash lets out Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert on the field.

Moltres aims a Flamethrower at Sceptile, but Sceptile jumps, Swampert behind him, let's out a Muddy Water at Moltres, which extinguishes the fire.

Blaziken was dodging many of Zapdos' Drill Pecks, jumping up and lands a Blaze Kick onto Articuno once momentum was built.

The group then finished the legendary birds with Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon. The two trainers return their pokemon.

"Heh. It's been a while since it's gotten this bad for me. But who am I to judge?" Brandon says, taking out the Regi Trio as Ash lets Pikachu, Eevee, and Togetic on the field.

"These next three are Brandon's strongest pokemon..." Reggie says. "I doubt that Ash will last long."

"Don't underestimate my cousin, Mr Reggie! He and his pokemon are the super strongest!" Molly says.

Regirock uses Rock Slide, but Pikachu and Eevee with Dig and Togetic used Fly to dodge.

Regice launched Ice Beam after Ice Beam towards Togetic, but she manages to dodge them, hitting the ice type.

Pikachu and Eevee hit Registeel and Regirock powerfully with Dig. The two staggered very slightly from the super effective hit.

Togetic lands a Drain Punch on Regirock, Eevee lands Double Kick on Regice, and Pikachu landed an Iron Tail on Regirock.

The titans all go after the three with Focus Punch, but they were interrupted with Pikachu hitting Regice with Volt Tackle, Eevee hitting Regirock with Iron Tail, and Togetic hitting Registeel with Steel Wing.

The trio then let's out Thunderbolt, Trump Card, and Fairy Wind, hitting the three, ending the battle.

Brandon smirked and laughed. "That's my boy!" He says, taking this loss in stride. Reggie was stunned. Ash was able to win?!

"Ash, you've really grown, and I'm proud of you. You've more than earned this. The Brave Symbol." Brandon says, giving the young man the symbol.

"Thank you, Uncle Brandon." He says modestly. "Now that you have all seven symbols, you're able to become a Frontier Brain." Scott chimed in.

"Hm.. no, but thank you. Or maybe..not yet? I still have a lot to learn. And a lot of training to do." Ash says.

"Ha ha ha! Always the one to worry about preparing!" Brandon laughed. "Well, the choice is yours. When you're ready, come find me."

Ash nodded in agreement. "Thank you. Now my team needs a rest. We have a gym battle tomorrow." Ash says, petting Pikachu.

"Mind if I watch?" Reggie asked. "And me?" Brandon asks. "Sure! I don't see why not." Ash says.

"Let's celebrate Ash's frontier win!" Molly exclaims. "Yeah! Let's have a big feast!" May says happily, Ash smiled a bit, happy to have such enthusiastic friends.

But now, he needs to plan for his Sootopolis gym battle.
